Anyone else watch this? It was really mind boggling some of the stuff he did. Especially the ice-picker through his hand and bicep.
What was even more amazing was the A-List stars that participated. Harrison Ford (who was pretty funny and freaked out), Wil Smith and his family, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, Woody Allen, Ricky Gervais, etc.
Also was impressed by how he swallowed a piece of a dollar bill and magically "put it back" from within his mouth!!
You have run the 0 Down promotion on and off for years since the premiere was introduced. Its great for people like me who could not afford to pay up front for a DVR, but fitting in an extra $20 x 2 per month is reasonably manageable. When are you going to do this for the roamio? I think it'd be great to have a roamio but theres no way I can afford one at your prices, let alone two, or getting one and adding a mini. I have loved and owned every single one of your products since the series 1. However, the last five years have been very low income for me and I would love to see the roamio on a 0 down or 99 down promotion.
A bit of a predictable ho-hum episode for me, but still some fun spots. I absolutely loved how Cierra got Katy to fold on the HI story. I have to agree with Cierra that she has a much better chance of winning than her mom. She was such a wallflower she was on her original tribe, but has blossomed well in this stage of the game. I hope she manages to hang on.
At RI I figured Tina would be gone for sure, but no. I figure there are going to be 2 or 3 challenges left before someone reenters the game. It's not impossible that a couple could be re-formed before the game is over. A voting block like that materializing to form the final 5 could be big.
Rushing towards the end, it'll be here before we know it.
Dalton's recap: http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/survivo...er-episode-10/
This was brilliant, especially J.R.R. Martin parts. I couldn't stop laughing at the a cappella wiener song set to the theme of the show. Princess Kenny was great as well.
There is a spoiler there though, for those that have not read the books, for something to come in season 4, so beware.
Oh, the irony of an Xbox commercial during one of the breaks was fun as well ...
I tried a search but could not find an answer.
Some stations are not good with keeping guide data up to date. If I have a season pass set to first run only, it will record any shows (first runs) that actually have complete guide data, but then it will also record shows that have what seems to be boilerplate data that really only has the title and basic description.
The Daily Show used to do this (not sure if it still does), and many others. In this case, I'm looking a Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown on CNN, and apparently this whole "up to date guide data" thing is foreign to CNN, and they also seem to like to schedule the show in marathons each weekend.
Is there any way to set TiVo to only record shows that have actual guide data and avoid the ones that use this placeholder data?
I am planning to purchase a new Roamio to replace my wife's P2 which is on a monthly plan. There used to be a way to go into my account and just change the TSN but I do not think I can do that anymore. What is the proper way to transfer the P2's plan to the Roamio. Do I buy the new unit and then call Tivo after it is setup and they will deactivate the P2 or is there another process I have to do? Will Tivo allow the transfer at the existing rate or will I have a new rate? I would buy it from Tivo directly but Amazon has the basic Roamio for $50 less and I do not think Tivo is is in the price matching business.
Grande Premiere 320hr (Internet and Tivo box provider)
Xfer selected files from PC to Tivo.
According to Grande, I cannot do that. According to TIVO, I can if I purchase 'Home Network" with Desktop PLUS for $99.
However ... I just NOW found this:
If you have downloaded videos from the Internet in any of the following formats, you can use TiVo Desktop Plus software for the PC to transfer them to your network-connected TiVo® box to view them on your TV:
Windows Media Video (.wmv)
QuickTime Movie (.mov)
MPEG-4/H.264 (.mp4, .m4v, .mp4v)
MPEG-2 (.mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpv2)
DivX or Xvid (.avi, .divx, encoded with the DivX codec, version 4 or higher, or with the Xvid codec. No other video formats are supported within .AVI files.)
Desktop can also recognize additional types of video, such as .mkv, based on other software installed on your system.
which, at this time is $15.
Thing is .. will either of these options work with a Tivo Box provided from a 'provider' ... i.e. Grande???
Thanks, anyone .... in advance.
Edit: Grande Customer Service could not answer the question. Brilliant.
I had a bunch of shows on my iPad, most notably Radiohead at Austin City Limits that was watched on most 10 hour flights.
Just looked at the newest TiVo app and magically all of my shows are gone. Worst part is that some of these were shows that I had deleted from my TiVo.
Why did this happen?
Tivo says that one cannot connect a Roamio to the coax input of a TV.
But there seem to be a cable available to run the HDMI to coax input.
Also Etekcity seems to have some boxes that convert HDMI to coax.
Has anyone made such a connection?
Or is this a lost cause?
Tivo people are very sparse with information.:(
So I am across the country today and went to download a show in the iPad app and it says there is a problem connecting to your streaming device. I can delete shows, see the DVR etc however all of the stream functionality is broken. It looks like there was a power outage at home earlier so the tivo likely got a new dhcp address. It tells me to connect to my home network to setup streaming! Obviously being 3000 miles from home this isn't possible. Very frustrating that a simple short lived power outage will break the stream and require a setup all over. Has anyone run across this before?
I am guessing that unlike the sling box which uses upnp the tivo isn't as robust here. I assume the fix is a static ip and resetup while at home. Very frustrating. The latest build of the iOS app seems to have fixed the disconnects that took place while downloading ooh. I really love the quality of the downloads.
Long time tivo owner.
I got suckered into the Premiere - that thing never worked great, but I am still using it.
I am thinking of moving to Roamio, but don't want to pay for plus or pro. I suppose I am not any worse off than premiere and I can always get Tivostream later?
Does Roamio work THAT MUCH better than Premiere? Thoughts?
THANKS. Talk me into it!
I received my new Roamio today and will be using it to replace to Premier receives. I have moved all of the content from Premier to another so that I can now take the Cable Card out of it and get it ready to sell. Have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer:
1. Is there a way and reset the Premier back to factory defaults removing an PII?
2. Is it really as easy as removing the cable card from it, putting it into the Roamio and then calling Comcast to re-pair to the Roamio?
3. My Premiers have a lifetime...how do I transfer the lifetime to a new owner? I have found a few posts that mentioned having to call Tivo...just wanted to verify that is still the way to do it. Do I sell the unit, get the new owner's info and then call TiVo to transfer the lifetime to the new owner?
I tried transferring a program from our Premiere XL to our trusty Series 3 this morning. Attempting to watch resulted in a paused screen with no transfer progress. It eventually gave an error about unable to tune channel.
The blue light on the S3 never went off. Trying to transfer again only queued it up because it said a transfer was in progress.
The transfer does not show up anywhere -- in Now Playing or in Todo. I rebooted, but the blue light came back on and it has been on all day.
How do I fix this?
I sold my S2 after buying a Tivo HD a few years back. I was looking at my account and it still showed it as being on my account. I had sold it with life time and told the buyer to call Tivo and create his own account. I used the Live Chat to talk to a Tivo rep and asked how to get it removed. He said they can not remove the old S2 from my account. This doesn't sound correct. Has any one gone thru the same thing?
Why am I spending 20 dollars a month for my TiVo subscriptions and have to see spam ads on my tv! I have a DVR so I can skip ads, now I am forced to see them on the menu screen. TiVo
I got my new TiVo Plus right before a six day work trip cross country. (California to Florida). I made sure to connect and test the streaming both in network and out of network before I left.
When I got to Florida, I opened the iPad App and connected to my TiVo just fine. But a couple of problems popped up.
1. The streaming itself was remarkably iffy. I'd say it actually was able to stream content 1 out of maybe 4 times, and would eventually stop after a few minutes.
2. When I went to manage My Shows, after I deleted one or two episodes that I didn't need, it would lose connection and have to create a new connection with my Tivo.
The hotel's wireless was robust enough to allow streaming from Netflix and Hulu Plus, but streaming from my Roamio wasn't working, so I don't think it was a bandwidth issue on the hotel side.
My question is, I'm pretty sure it's a bandwidth issue on my home network setup. I'm hardwired to an Apple Airport Express which is hardwired to the Comcast Wireless Cable Router. ( I do that because the Apple is a faster router but Comcast provides the internet service).
Does the needlessly complicated router setup limit the bandwidth I'm getting from my home network to the wireless speed of the slower router, even though I'm connected via ethernet all the way from the TiVo box to the cable outlet (with two routers in between)?
I'm a bit of a novice with networking issues, so if this is an idiotic setup for my home network, be kind.
I'm trying to figure out the best (most cost effective) way to buy a new Roamio.
Here's my situation:
- We have 2 HD TVs.
- We currently use these two boxes:
HD 20 hour monthly $12.95 (activated 6/04)
HD XL 150 hour lifetime (activated 8/09)
We also have these two boxes that we don't use:
HD Series 2 rev. 3 (inactive - no lifetime)
Series 1 Philips 30 hr lifetime (activated 10/2000)
- Besides recording cable (Comcast), we need to have ability to stream Netflix, Amazon, and Showtime Anytime.
- Would like to be able to record Showtime Anytime (to catch up on earlier seasons of programs we've missed.)
- Would like to be able to stream recorded programs from TIVO box to iPad and iPhone
I've been trying to figure out the best choice to meet the criteria outlined above (leaning toward buying LT service.)
The basic Roamio would work, but I would need to buy a TIVO Stream to get content to the 2nd TV (Is this true if I keep one of my HD boxes?).
The Plus or Pro would work - only difference I can see is HD size. (I wouldn't need to purchase the Stream.)
Hard part is working through the iterations.
Buy a new Roamio, sell the HD 20.
Buy a new Roamio, sell the HD XL and HD 20.
- try to get LT transferred to the Roamio. Is that something TIVO does?
I'm sure there are other possibilities, but I thought maybe some of you who have been through this decision-making process could offer your thoughts.
PS I'm assuming Roamio can still 'talk' to HDs, right (ie, watch a HD recorded movie via Roamio and vice versa).
Sorry in advance if this has been answered before, but I didn't find it in a search (or I'm not sure what to search for)....
Have two Premeires in our household. Have an intermittent issue of not being able to see the recordings on the other TiVo. Instead, I'm getting a screen with the second Tivo's name, but it repeats the list of recordings already on the originating unit.
Also have two Series 2 units in the household and you can view their recordings just fine even when there's a problem between the two Premieres.
I have a Premiere XL4 with a 2TB hard drive and I just purchased a Roamio Plus and a separate 3TB hard drive. My plan is to replace the hard drive in the Roamio with the 3TB and throw the 1TB drive that came with the Roamio in the Premiere. I will then take the 2TB drive that came in the Premiere and put it in my computer.
Is there a way to clone the OS portion of the 2TB drive to the 1TB? I am not concerned about keeping recordings but I don't know if I can shrink an image from the 2TB to the 1TB and have it work in the Premiere. I have found a lot of info on installing a larger drive in a Premiere but not much on putting in a smaller one.
Has anyone done this or know how to do it?
We will be releasing an update later today for TiVo Roamio and TiVo Mini.
Here is a list of some of the changes:
- fixed an issue where the video would occasionally freeze and the box would become unresponsive
- fixed an issue where the box wouldn't display anything after Standby
- fixed an issue related to fast-forward/rewind/recording not working on some channels
- fixed an issue where YouTube could freeze when using a keyboard remote
The update should probably be available sometime after 2pm PT.
