Very weird Roamio recording issue tonight with multiple recordings on the same channel.
I have the following setup as Season Passes and these were all set to record this evening. All passes are padded on the end by 2 minutes. Overlap protection is ON. When I looked at my Todo list I was wondering why Tivo wasn't listing a conflict
..but what I found was really odd:
(all program times actual guide times. 2 minutes padding added onto end in season pass settings)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Channel 806
8:30 - 9:00
Top Gear - Channel 872
9:00 - 10:00
19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:00 - 9:30
New Girl - Channel 806
9:00 - 9:30
The Goldbergs - Channel 805
9:01 - 9:31
The Mindy Project - Channel 806
9:30 - 10:00
19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:30 - 10:00
Trophy Wife - Channel 805
9:31 - 10:00
I only put in the Brooklyn Nine-Nine because I got a weird recording, but that doesn't really play into the recording issue.
As you can see above
..I have 4 shows recording at once in the 9-9:30 block. All would extend over by 2 minutes, so when 9:30 rolled around, The Mindy Project should have used the 5th tuner, and 19 Kids should have used the 6th tuner. Now
..when Trophy Wife started at 9:31, all 6 tuners SHOULD have been busy
..but somehow everything was recorded.
Here's what the Tivo actually recorded
.all the weirdness is with the Fox shows (Channel 806).
Brooklyn Nine-Nine shows the program recorded time of 54 minutes (in the blue program bar). However, the actual time recorded (the green play bar) was only 32 minutes (as it should have been)
Top Gear recorded fine - 1hr 2 min
Both 19 Kids and Counting recorded fine - 32 minutes each
The Goldbergs recorded fine - 32 minutes
Trophy Wife recorded fine - 31 minutes
Now the weird stuff:
New Girl shows 1 hr 23 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDED Brooklyn Nine-Nine AND New Girl for a total of 1 hr
The Mindy Project shows 1 hr 53 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDES Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl AND The Mindy Project for a total of 1 hr 30 min
Definitely weird stuff all going on with those back to back recordings.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
So this months bill had HD turned on for my HR10-250. After 75 minutes on the phone with D (3 departments), retention was able to remove it.
Tech support said they just rolled out new software that looks for HD receivers without service and automatically adds it. He said somewhere in their settings they had me as a Genie too. Not sure about that, I do not own one. Retention did a manual software override since tech support could not. I told them I would leave after being a customer for 15 years if they did not fix it.
I realize there is newer equipment out there, I just choose to use this unit. Any other veteran HR10-250 users getting billed for HD? My bill just came yesterday.
my cable company went to digital a few years ago now so my old tivo's were no longer any good and i have had a long run of bad luck so i have been tapped on money so could never save up enough to buy a new premiere or lifetime service but my cable company switched over from some brand of dvr to premier xl4's for under twenty bucks a month so i pulled the trigger and they will be here to install thursday afternoon and i cant wait to finally be able to record more then one show at a time and finally be able to skip over commercials again!
i hope i can temporarily hook up my old tivo and move over some shows i had recorded?
but if not im still very happy to be almost back!
Seems like the writers are having fun making jokes about themselves. Loved the comment about trying too hard to spell out S.H.I.E.L.D. There were a couple other things like that which are slipping my mind right now.
The show looks promising.
I'm seeing conflicting information on this so i'm starting a new thread. Just a question, is there anyway to get a Tivo Premiere to work with Directv? Sounds like the answer to that is no but I want to make sure.
Thanks in advance.
Man, is THIS gonna be made of awesome! Jim Steranko, the man who invented Nick Fury & SHIELD as we know them*, will be reviewing each week's episode for The Hollywood Reporter!
He's led a pretty incredible life. And he'll be the first to tell you that!
* Yes, I know, Stan Lee & Jack Kirby created both the character and the organization. But Steranko took over the book fairly early, and turned it into something cool.
I'm overall loving the iOS TiVo App with my new Roamio and Mini. Just one problem -- I think it's going a little senile because sometimes it doesn't recognize home.
I've got a Roamio downstairs and a Mini upstairs. Each location has its own wireless access point (sharing the same ssid and security settings, but on different channels.) The two networks are joined via MoCA -- the Roamio's internal adapter downstairs, and a standalone adapter upstairs.
The ipad app mostly recognizes that it is home, but occasionally gets confused when I change floors and/or change which TiVo device it is controlling. When that happens it will switch to its away state. Sooner or later it will eventually re-recognize home but I haven't found a pattern yet.
The network is otherwise solid. I am not seeing problems on any other device as far as losing connectivity to other devices on its own floor, or the other floor. Its just the ipad app.
There is no other network that the ipad is joining, neither wifi nor radio (which it doesn't even have.) Its always talking to one of my two APs.
Anyway, does anyone have any technical details they can point me towards as far as how the app is trying to establish whether its home or not? If I better understood that maybe I could better figure out why its getting confused.
Any video downloaded from my Roamio Pro cannot be viewed with Windows Media Player or VideoReDo. This is true which ever download program I use, Tivo Desktop, pyTivo or KMTTG. The programs either crash or say they can't play that format.
If I transfer the video to my old S3 and then download there is no problem working with the file in VideoReDo on Windows Media Player.
If I transfer a video from my old S3 to the Roamio and then download it to my computer it fails to play.
Everything was working fine downloading from my old S3 or my THD before the Roamio. Nothing has changed on my computer.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
4 tuners only able to get 3 one with no signal. I got tired of Tivo saying is a Fios card problem even after i replaced a Roamio once and two diferent cable cards with the latest firmware. Just tired after 3 weeks of back and forth and closed account. Its a Tivo problem but they will just not admit it. I was only getting 3 tuners and one tuner without a signal then I programed Roamio to only receive 3 tuners and now I get 2 good tuners and the third with no signal making my season pass a crap shoot. Some will record and others wont due to no signal. Lost money on Roamio will try to sell. Its a shame because i liked tivo.
Newbie here...just wanted to get an exact answer from someone that has the Roamio. Basically, I have 4 TV's total and I want to use the Roamio base model to steam recorded shows (rarely, if ever, watch live TV) to the other 3 minis. My question is this- will watching a recorded show on a mini, take up a tuner from the Roamio? I called Tivo twice today, and two different people said that it does...meaning if I had all 3 minis watching recorded shows, then the base Roamio would only have one tuner left to record new shows. This sounds stupid to me, as the mini shouldn't be using a tuner to watch what is on the harddrive, but the Tivo reps insisted this is true. What is the real life answer please?
This is weird, was trying to record Sleepy Hollow on fox. But for some reason the Roamio just goes to the station and does not record it, black screen. I can go to the station manually and it actually shows whats on, but it doesn't build up a buffer and if I press record nothing happens.
But the kicker is that it will record channel 5 fox in standard definition. Does this sound like a Roamio issure, or cable card(which is Cisco). I'm with Cox here in San Diego. I haven't noticed this issue with any other stations on my Roamio, and thoughts whats going on?

As we all know, the second season of NBC's Revolution starts tomorrow night at 8PM. Here's a promo from NBC.com:
For those of you who are interested in what's going to happen this second season, here is a discussion at Comic-Con 2013 from the show's cast and creator.
WARNING: This video contains a lot of spoilers about what happens in the second season, including details of the first episode.
Just kicking this off. Some good talent so far. I like this new Christina. Not the look (although that is good too), but the attitude.
The old HD tivo might be showing its age finally. All my season passes ungrouped themselves and were showing singularly. No biggie, as regrouping was just one or two clicks away.
Just me or did it happen to others?
Apologies if this has been discussed already - my quick search did not turn up anything.
I love that I can stream not only recordings but LIVE TV to my iPad - primarily for keeping up with a couple of sports events (otherwise why not just record one and watch the other right, as discussed in the various PIP threads?). Sports IMHO is the one scenario where this is really nice.
That being said, why does my Roamio Plus need to start a recording in order to stream one tuner? My Mini can grab a tuner and stream WITHOUT a recording, so why would streaming to the iPad require a dummy recording being created? It's slightly frustrating having to delete the unwanted recording when done. (Ok, admittedly this is a nice-to-have-first-world-problem.) Still though, I wonder why the built-in Stream can't just grab a tuner like the Mini can? Does anyone know if Tivo has every said anything about this?
Does TiVo support Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)?
I get unexpected server access error #0-65535 when trying to view my photos. TiVo does "see" my photos name
Lately some of the videos I upload to my Tivo won't play. I get a message to the effect that the copywrite holder won't allow it (or some such).
These videos easily play on my PC using VLC media player.
So why doesn't Tivo like them?
These seem to generally be .MKV files but other .MKV files play fine.
I'm using PyTivo to transfer the videos from my PC to Tivo.
