I recently got a tivo mini with the advisory panel discount. Lifetimed it too. I also then decided to get a squaretrade warranty for it.
I am usually am not a fan of these extended warranties, but wanted to try squatters so this seemed like an ideal scenario to try it. With a discount code, 3yrs was about $10.
My question is this; how does a squaretrade warranty work with the lifetime if I need to make a claim, but then they simply decide they can't fix it and/or will just buy me a new one/money back?
I am hoping similar to what tivo told me for a Geeksquad warranty I have on a lifetime premiere I bought from Best Buy. Tivo said I would just have to show that Best Buy replaced it somehow (if couldn't fix) and they would transfer lifetime to the new unit.
Would this most likely be the same situation with a squaretrade related claim?
Liked the episode. Especially all the phone secrecy and swapping.
Loved the Jayne Mansfield/Sophia Loren photo spoof. I guess we are not supposed to link pictures, but if you google those two names you will find it.
I purchased a new pro from TiVo to replace my XL4. My plan was to leave my XL4 connected and operational during the pro setup. So I set the pro up on my network (without the Comcast cable card) did all the updates and called in to TiVo and they transferred service from my XL4. At that time they also activated a new service on my XL4 which will keep it active so I have time to transfer my shows. Then I can cancel that service within 30 days and get a refund.
Everything was as expected up to this point. The pro is just sitting there without a cc and nothing done except for the initial setup and activation. I look at it and see the red record light on and see it is recording channel 1 which is VOD on Comcast. I stop it and assume it is a fluke. Later I again see the red light on and apparently it has downloaded a show "1337 Wine TV" over the net connection. I now look in season pass manager an I see one show "King of the Nerds" set up on season pass. Any thoughts on this? It's a brand new pro just received from TiVo and sure looks untouched. Later today I plan to transfer season passes and finally my shows from the XL4 and follow up with the cc swap.
In the midst of setting up my new Roamio, I was going through the usual headaches with Cox regarding cablecards. I picked up another cablecard & tuning adapter - the girl at the Cox store said they were out of install directions, but it was 'easy to find on the website'. Yeah, right. Nothing on how to connect the tuning adapter, all while they expect you to do it a certain way with nonstandard parts (I don't keep MoCa filters around; they give you one piece of Coax, but expect you to have 3 pieces of RG6, a splitter & a MoCa filter.)
It took the usual back-and-forth with the card not pairing correctly, then things working part way, then scheduling a tech visit because 'everything seems to be configured & the cablecard is paired'. Most channels were not coming in even after multiple reboots of each device (tivo & tuning adapter, along with them resetting the cablecard). They confirmed that I was supposed to receive some channels (DIY & Cooking channel, for example) in HD. Then the tech arrives today, taking 10 MINUTES to find the cablecard on the HD! He claims those channels are only available on Contour (Cox's new attempt at a all-in-one 'solution') according to both his supervisor & DC. Huh? I've gotten the speech numerous times about how tuning adapters are necessary to make more HD channels available, then they're not ... all this after three different people at Cox confirmed I'm supposed to receive these channels in HD. Color me confused.
Here's the crux of my question: Is Cox violating the law (or FCC mandate) by not making programming available via cablecard that other customers receive? I'm not talking two-way stuff like on-demand or PPV. I'm talking normal high-def versions of channels that I already get in standard definition. Cox has marketed that they don't charge for high-definition channels; whenever I've asked the question, they've confirmed that if I receive the channel in standard definition, then the HD version is also supposed to be there.
A couple of the channels in question are DIY (1348 in the local lineup) & COOK (1353). To add insult to injury, I have the Encore movie pack including IndiePlex (1296) & RetroPlex (1297). I'm told I can't receive those channels without signing up for their Contour system. They're part of the package to which I'm subscribed & I do get the standard definition versions (296 & 297).
This sure seems like extortion. "You can have what you want as long as you sign up for our more expensive proprietary solution." A subsequent call to a different tech support person at Cox indicates those channels ARE restricted to Contour. I guess at least they're consistent at being inconsistent.
I'm sure there are many people here more experienced with this stuff that can make insightful commentary. Thoughts? Suggestions?
I've had a Tivo for over 5 years, but I do miss my old cable box DVR's with a 1 hour buffer. I just bought a Roamio Plus that is currently being shipped to me, but I have a feeling the buffer times are still at 30 minutes. Am I correct?
If so, has anyone heard any talks of a longer buffer or at least the option to change such preference? I know it seems petty, but sometimes there is a movie or show on that you want to rewind and I almost always find that I don't have the full program in the buffer.
I've been a TiVo buyer since Series 1.
Bought a Premiers XL around June 2012.
Worked well in general with Comcast here in Western PA.
Had few natty problems from time to time:
(All Now Solved, some with work arounds. Thank you Margret, TiVo, and TiVo Community Members!)
Had intermittent C133 Network problem. Solved by using an Apple Airport Express as a range extender on my WiFi network. Perfect operation since.
(I am not able to install a direct hardwire connection between my router and my TiVo.)
Had a problem, known in the Forums as "20.3.8 black menu bug..."
Problem solved with a work around by setting my TiVo video out to 1080i/p only.
Works perfectly now. I hope TiVo will fix in a future update for those who are perfectionists.
Thank You TiVo for the amazing Premiere and Roamio!
Everyone, please feel free to share your comments, good or bad on this thread.
And most of all, thank you to all the TiVo Community members who help all of us find fixes and optimize our TiVo Systems!
I use to be able to record 2 shows at one time, 3 days ago I was only able to record 1 show at a time.
Anything bigger than my ipad I can watch stuff I've downloaded over my stream?
How do I keep my iphone from going into screensaver mode while downloading
It causes the downloading to stop
The Six Nations Rugby schedule on beIN1 is completely screwed up this weekend. Zap2It has it right. Find the correct times here
I've submitted a trouble ticket and with luck, they'll have it fixed before Saturday.
Just in case anyone was interested, I happen to hop on ABT's website and start a chat with a CSR. The ONLY words I used were "Roamio Plus Sale". Nice guy came on and immediately said he could match the sale price of $339 plus shipping as they had back in November. He then said I can call you to make the purchase. I was shocked at how easy it was.
For us here in California (other states too I'm sure), we save a little on tax and obviously cheaper than the $750 Tivo combo that just expired. Additionally, I threw it on my Discover card and hopefully they will give me a 5% cash back credit, but ABT was unfortunately unable to do it online so YMMV with Discover.
Hope this helps. -Jeff
**Obviously it's Tivo Roamio Plus not Pus!
The Michael J. Fox Show has been pulled from NBC's schedule, and there are currently no plans for the 7 episodes filmed but not yet aired. NBC will likely burn them off at a later point. The show is not officially canceled, but is not expected to be renewed.
The show most recently got a 0.7 rating in the demo.
As far as I can tell, I'm getting all the channels I'm supposed to in my package except G4HD. TW Austin said I am supposed to be getting the channel but when I tune to it I get the Tivo message saying "Channel not provided by the Tuning Adapter. Please contact your cable provider..."
When I use a mini to tune to it, I get "Searching for a signal on this channel. (V52) Press Select for help.
I've already run through a litany of diagnostics with TWC on the phone, rebooting all devices, unhooking usb/power on TA, and even today a replacement of the Tuning Adapter. TW Cable guy also replaced ends on coax, tested line inside house, outside house to box, he says all signals are good. (oddly enough he did state that my db levels were +7 but tuning adapter always shows them -6 or -5) He also admitted he wasn't familiar with the TA's and Tivos (why did they send HIM out then?!)
Still, no go for G4HD. The TWC cable card people re-verified my account, sent new signals down, etc. and even verified that if I can get other channels in the same tier (which I could) then they have no idea why I'm not getting G4HD.
The last suggestion from the TWC Cablecard folks was to contact Tivo and see if there is "something going on there". Hmmm.
If anyone reading this is on Time Warner, can you get G4HD if it's in your package?
2nd question. Anyone have any suggestions?
I can live without G4HD but if I'm supposed to get it, then demmit, I want it :D
I just installed yesterday a Roamio Pro and Mini in my home. I have Verizon FIOS so everything connected seamlessly using MOCA by just plugging the coax into each.
I am trying to Record by Channel using the Mini. When I select that option a screen appears with a status bar that is already at 100%. The screen tells me to "Please wait... Acquiring Channel Information." If I let it sit like that for several minutes I get the following message:
"The TiVo box is unable to prepare channel information. If this problem persists, please check your cable connection."
The cable is fine. I wouldn't get any video if it wasn't since it is supplying all programming to the Mini.
I restarted the Mini earlier today and just now tried again but get the same response.
Everything else works fine on the Mini. I can program a recording using the Guide screen.
What can I do? I get the same screens if I try to Record by Time as well.
I have the bare bones Comcast plan in Minneapolis suburbs. The channel setup shows Bravo on two channels. I previously had one of them selected in the setup but it was some other channel and not actually Bravo. A few days ago I unselected the one and selected the other in channel setup. I can now view Bravo.
When I look at the guide it still shows to be announced. I have this channel selected in setup for a few days so I would think I would have guide data for it by now.
I have a Premiere. I upgraded the hard drive right after I bought it. The instructions I followed suggested that I keep the original hard drive. I think it was Ross Walker's website.
I went back to read it, and maybe I'm blind, but I can't see why he suggested keeping the old hard drive. (The old drive is a Western Digital WD3200AVVS).
The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine asked me to fix his Series 3. It's stuck on the 'Welcome... Powering Up!' screen.
My question is: should I just buy a new hard drive or use the "old" one that is basically brand new? Is there a compelling reason for me to keep the old one?
As if they weren't killing the competition enough on Thursday's with The Big Bang Theory, they decided to take it up a notch.
CBS will get eight games, all early in the season (all of them to be simulcast on NFL Network)
have a cisco wow dta hooked up to tv using tv hdmi 1 input. have Blueray player hooked to tv hdmi 2 input . when I turm on blueray player it automatically plays through hdmi 2 input. when I power off Blueray player it does not go back to hdmi 1.the only way I can get it back to dta hdmi 1 is to activate hdmi 1. have tried cutting off dta ,powering on.
Am I correct in assuming that the backlit remote will work fine with Roamio plus and mini's
