I've had my TiVO for years now and never chose to switch to a lifetime because I was waiting for the next great box but I never thought the Premiere was it. But now I am sitting here paying a monthly fee and passed the lifetime cost twice over. What should I do? I see in the spring sale they have the Premiere XL available with a lifetime. Or should I just change my TiVo HD sub to a lifetime a suck it up?
No thread for season series finale?
I thought the whole season felt kind of flat, but I still enjoyed the ride. Sad to see it go, but with Harmon out this was the best goodbye we could ask for.
It still might get renewed though... Who knows what's going on at NBC.
To me the acting is superb and the sets and costumes are perfect. Of course, I'm a sucker for period shows. In a recent after-show storyline they explained they did everything first class because they expected to use the sets for years. I hope so.
Another hour episode, but a solid hour.
Not sure if I should have this here or the HH forum so feel free to move.
A few people asked me for this so here's my pics from NJ :)

And I have done a Jensen, Jared and Matt VIP review so far so I can add that if interested, they are LONG (ans far less fangirly that last time!)
Sheldon: See what happens when you let girls play D & D.
I have a comcast M card in my Premiere. It has worked fine for about a month. Tivo rebooted and now I am not getting all of my channels. I am not getting any about 100. What do i do?
I have a S2 Tivo and an S3 Tivo. I installed pyTivo and set it up according to the installation instructions.
Both Tivos see pyTivo.
The S3 can pull: 1) HD & SD video in standard Tivo format (.tivo files), 2) HD video that has been decrypted (.mpg), and HD video that has been decrypted & re-encoded as mpeg4 (.mp4).
The S2 can pull: 1) SD video in standard Tivo format (.tivo files), 2) HD video that has been decrypted (.mpg), and HD video that has been decrypted & re-encoded as mpeg4 (.mp4).
A) The S2 cannot pull HD video in standard Tivo format (.tivo files). The transfer never starts -- the S2 says there was an error.
B) I cannot push anything from pyTivo. When I pull up the pyTivo home page in my browser, I only see "Web Configuration". I do not see the sections "Pull from Tivos" or "Push form video shares". In the pyTivo box, after "scanning for tivos", it lists my two Tivos. So it sees them, but they do not appear on the home page.
This is a weird one - I was watching the live TV buffer today on my P4 - (no other tuners being used), and had scheduled to record something on the same channel I was watching, starting soon.
I was probably 20 minutes behind real time in the buffer - when the recorder commandeered the tuner I was viewing and re-changed the channel - (to the same one I was watching) and started recording.
No other tuners were being used.
The entire buffer was blown out and skipped up to the current real time moment as it began recording. As a result, that 20 minutes I had left queued up were gone.
Why didn't it user any one of the other idle, THREE tuners just sitting there?
Hi all, I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on a XL4 and mini to replace my two cable company provided crappy dvr's. I just want to confirm that i am un derstanding what I have read on connecting these two together. The XL4 will be in the living room. I happen to have my incoming cable, cable modem and router right next to where the XL4 will be. The incoming cable is on a splitter, with one split going to cable modem and other to dvr. In the bedroom I don't have any Ethernet connections, just the coax cable going to the dvr. So if I understand right, all I would need to do is plug the XL4 into the router(with of course the coax going to XL4) and the mini into the coax cable in the bedroom and these will communicate? I don't need to purchase a moCa adapter to make these work together? Thanks so much!
I am about to take the plunge for a Mini. What should I be watching out for?
Our home has effectively one TV in the family room. Each of three boys has a TV in their room for video games. Every kid's bedroom, the home office and family room is wired with a 24 port 10/100 switch with gibabit fiber backhaul to the server rack, so network bandwidth "should" be ok. The only coax we have in the house goes straight into the family room.
One son just loves live sports, sometimes causing contention for the Tivo in the family room. We have looked at having our house drilled and coax pulled into his room, plus cable box, but I am not too keen on that idea. We saw the Mini and figured this might be the perfect solution, not just for him, but for all of the kids.
We all enjoy Netflix and Comcast on-demand. We enjoy watching shows on the server, served up via Streambaby and PyTivo. We enjoy watching family videos the same way and also perusing pictures from the server. We also enjoy some audio stored on the server. If we get a Mini for my son's room, what issues are likely to arise? I can already see that the other two boys might also want a Mini.
How much bandwidth do they consume? Is the thin-client Tivo experience similar to sitting "on the console" of the XL4? It seems that direct use of Streambaby will be gone, as well as Netflix. Maybe Xfinity will work; I am not too sure. I can't decide from the posts if multiple Minis will or won't work on a single XL4, or if each mini will grab a dedicated tuner.
If we do install a mini in my son's room, what about the experience might be disappointing?
I know it was mentioned in the AI thread for this week, but if anyone is like me, they might not be following the weekly threads.
"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," he says. "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry."
If rumors are true, the entire rest of the judging team, as well as the producers of American Idol, will also be leaving, and major changes to the show are planned for next season.
I have two questions:
1. Is there a search function on this Forum?
2. If I buy a second Tivo for another room do I need to pay an extra monthly charge? My intent is simply to view the Tivo I now have in another room. If there is another way to do this, what is it?
Motive begins on May 20th and is now in the guide, but it's using the original Canadian OAD's so you'll need to set your SP or ARWL to record repeats
Does a TiVo S2 have an IRD Number?
