Have had this XL4 for about the last four or five months.
After watching a show recorded on TiVo I click on the TiVo button which is suppose to take me to the menu where you can view more recorded shows. However, more and more when I do this the entire screen except the top right hand corner showing 'live TV" is black.
I then have to click on "live TV" and then click on the TiVo button again for it to actually show up. And sometimes it's still black and I have to go through the process again.
It's not a big deal, although if it ends up doing it all the time it will get irritating. Right now I'd say it does it about 25% of the time.
My connect is through MoCA which has been great compared to the Wireless N, especially for the connected TiVo Mini.
Thanks for any suggestions.
After the guided setup on the Roamio is complete, it allows you to go into the settings and tell it to "use this Roamio as a moca bridge."
So my question is this....... after this step is completed, is it necessary to keep the ethernet cable connected in order to maintain the Moca network?
I am fairly sure that I already know the answer to that but I just want to confirm from some ofyou who are more knowledgable than I on this topic.
I have a 4-tuner Premiere that is hard wired connected to my home network via ethernet. I now have a TiVO Mini on the way to use with it. While the mini is in transit, I thought I would check out the quick start guide & prepare my Premiere to be networked with this Mini.
In step 2, it states for a 4-tuner Premiere that I "need to turn on the 'Allow live TV sharing'” (located in ‘Settings’ > ‘Remote, CableCARD, & Devices.’). When going to this area of the settings, there is no option to 'Allow Live TV on other devices'. I have forced several connections to the TiVo servers and rebooted the TiVo several times. No luck.
The guide has connecting the mini as step 4, but does the mini really need to be on my network first & basically BEFORE I try to change (or even have access to) this setting? The mini is listed on my account online so I know its attached and related as needed.
What am I doing wrong here or what else may need to be done to get the Premiere set up properly?
I am thinking of getting either a 4-tuner Roamio basic or a Roamio Plus. From my understanding while reading some posts here, I think I saw something that says the Roamio Basic is user-upgradeable. Can basically be easily upgraded by the user by simply replacing the drive yourself and just dropping a fresh new hard drive into the unit. The Roamio basic then does everything needed to properly prepare the drive for full use. Essentially a plug-n-play type procedure. Is this correct and how it works?
If so, I am assuming upgrading or repairing a Roamio Plus/Pro would be a little more involved, correct?
I currently have the wall outlet going to a splitter which then goes to the cable modem for one output and tivo for the other. Does it matter if I put moca before or after that splitter? The Poe filter will go outside the house. My Mini will be in an upstairs bedroom
I have a TivoHD unit in a spare bedroom, and have it paired to Comcast (Xfinity) for cable. I was thinking of adding it to my main viewing room with my Premier XL4, but hooking up a TV antenna to it for some of the local subchannels.
Its been so long since Ive changed anything I have a couple questions:
1: Can I tune cable and antenna at the same time with the TivoHD, or just one or the other like the base Roamio?
2: If I can tune either antenna or cable, will rerunning guided setup to add in the antenna cause me to lose the pairing on the cablecard?
3: If I cannot tune both at the same time, will rerunning guided setup to switch from cable to antenna erase the pairing on the cablecard should I want to switch back to the cable?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but between DirecTv and the newer Tivos, Ive totally forgotten about the TivoHD.
Just this alone would make my unit perfect in every way. :)
Ok we have Amazon video, where is the app for us Prime customers?
Has anyone else experienced Tivo Premiere XL4 lock-ups when they have 2 programs or more paused, and Tivo needs to change the tuner to record a program?
I'm running 20.3.8.
After I select OK to change tuner on second paused channel, the unit stops responding to remote control commands. I did discover that if I use the Tivo app on my android to tell the Tivo to 'watch' a channel, it 'unlocks' the box, and all is well. It does start recording the programs, just acts like it's locked up, until I use the app.
Selling my Premier now that i have Roamio
I upgraded the hard drive with a 2TB Hard Drive. I am also including the original hard drive if something ever goes wrong.
Does this make sense to anyone? A basketball game was scheduled for one of the ESPN channels, but when we stared the recording, the announcer said the above (and switched to another game). To be clear:
- The game is still happening, on time.
- They're still covering it (but only online).
It seems like it must be just an excuse, but if there's a way in which the weather actually makes sense as a reason for the move, I'm curious to hear it.
I really love TitanTV. Is there any way to use it to program recordings on my TiVo Roamio? If not are there any other similar web based guides that will?
I know TiVo has one on their site but I don't particularly like it.
Ok so I have a strange issue with channels not working on my TiVo Premiere XL with Verizon Fios in Washington DC. NFL Network, BIO and a few channels are currently not working on my TiVo however they do work on my regular Verizon STB. The error I'm getting is "This channel is not authorized. Contact your cable provider for more information (V58)." Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. Does the Mini have an Off or Sleep button? My iScan Duo video processor is set for input auto-sensing and I need to be able to "switch away" from the Mini to view another source (like Chromecast).
Hi. Does the Mini reproduce a pixel accurate version of what was recorded on the Roamio basic or does the content get compressed when streamed to the Mini and therefor what the Mini outputs is "lesser" than what a Roamio basic outputs?
Hi. So I have the Roamio basic. If I use it 95% of the time for OTA, and just want to use it 5% of the time for cablecard, is this a viable (livable) solution?
Or do I have to reboot and reconfig the unit every time I want to switch between OTA and cablecard?
Just installed a Roamio Plus and a Mini. Everything looked good for a few hours, then the picture broke up, heavy pixilation. Tuning channels got either error V53 or V58. Tivo said the signal strength was too high, suggested an attenuator or getting the cable company to reduce the strength. Since I like the fast ethernet (20mb) I do not want the cable signal degraded. So I have ordered three attenuators (3db, 6db and 12db) to test. I then realized I have an old splitter, with each leg suffering a 3.5db loss, so I am now trying it - so far so good. I have 60 days to get it working or return for a credit from Best Buy and Tivo (lifetime).
Does not say much for the quality of the Tivo tuners...never happened with cheap cable company boxes.
Moved my premier to a spare bedroom after upgrading it with a Roamio. The premier replaced an HD tivo with a tivo wireless adapter. The premier worked perfectly but could not transfer fast because it was wireless. So I decided to get a Moca adapter for it.
I turned Moca networking on my new Roamio and installed a Moca adapter on the premier. Evertying works fine but now once the Moca adapter was connected on the premier I get a static/pop sound everytime the channel is changed.
The cable wire first goes through the moca adapter then throught the tuning adapter then to the premier box. Also the premier is connected to the TV through an HDMI cable. Cable provider is COX.
I have a Roamio setup in a living room that is open to the kitchen where a mini is setup with a small TV. We want to have them play the same show and be in sync with each other because you can here the speakers from both rooms. The scenario is my wife's in the kitchen, I'm in the living room, and we're watching the same show. Because there is a slight delay with the mini the shows and audio are not in sync.
I've tried to fix this by briefly pausing the Roamio and then start it again to be in sync with the mini, it's a hit or miss process and frustrating. Does anyone know of an easy way to accomplish what I'm going for?
New version of Pandora is very broken for me on Premiere
It plays exactly one song and then no more audio (though the UI seems to think it is still playing)
Also, controls no longer work, have to navigate to buttons to ff, etc..
Bring back the old app please!
