I have a 1TB drive in my TiVo Series3 (TCD648250B). After doing a clear and delete everything, which hung originally where the only option was to unplug the TiVo. ONce I replugged it in, the Clear and Delete completed in a couple of hours. Now, it is stuck in the endless reboot loop (Welcome...A few more minutes...reboot).
I have an original image (from a stock tivo), but when I try to do mfsrestore I get the error that "target not large enough for entire backup".
Obviously the drive is big enough and I had upgraded it in the past. Could I possibly need to reformat the drive to remove the corrupt upgraded stuff already on the disk? Any other suggestions?
I filter incoming TCF notifications based on the header, which used to be "tc--support@...".
I noticed all my TCF emails today were in my inbox, and it looks like the header now reads "no-reply@..."
Can you confirm this, and is it a permanent change?
It is cheaper for me to have basic cable (no STB) and 50/50 mbps wifi than JUST 25/25 wifi (weird) from Verizon. So, I hooked up cable in one room, straight from the wall. My question is: Can I hook up straight, basic cable (no STB) into my Tivo Roamio OTA like I do with my Mohu antenna?
Hello I recently upgraded to a tivo premiere elite from a tivo HD and I've noticed that there appears to be more issues with the transferred recordings to my PC that are not visible if I play back the recording on the tivo itself. So I was wondering if the TS streams on the premieres tend to have more playback issues than the PS streams as I have read this one post by an individual that said this
From my experience though TS downloads are pretty flaky from Premiere units and can cause TiVo web server to get into bad state where it won't serve up any more files until it is rebooted, so for stability you should use PS downloads.
. Now granted I have researched both streams and know that TS is more resilient to stream glitches than PS is, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience with TS and PS streams from their premieres?
What's the best way to disable IR on a mini? I have one in an A/V cabinet with an XL4 and an IR blaster so I need to control the mini purely through the network. Black Gaffer's tape across the front doesn't work 100% of the time. My next thought is a black box overtop of the mini but I'm worried about it overheating.
Weird...I get NO sound effects now that I set up the new Pioneer receiver (VSX-824) like I did with my old yamaha which was connected via hdmi and optical cable... The HDMI on the old unit was just a pass through and did not handle any sound, just video which was lame! Had to use optical cable to get the sound.
I've got a Roamio Plus (perhaps a year old) that just spontaneously rebooted this evening while I was watching a currently recording program (perhaps 15 minutes behind live TV).
I also have a Roamio Pro (only a few months old) that has spontaneously rebooted recently. Both are running software 20.4.5c. I don't see any recent threads about software updates so I assume I have the the newest.
It's hard for me to believe that I have two units with hardware problems. So is it just software? Anyone else having reboot problems? I don't see a recent active discussion about this.
I currently have 1 TiVo HD connected to my home network via ethernet (hard wired), and a Tivo Series 2 connected wirelessly. I'm planning on adding a Roamio Pro. If I set it up on a Moca through the coax, is that setting up a completely different network where my HD and Series 2 would not be able to talk to it and transfer shows between them? Or will both networks talk to each other?
Hello. Newbie here. I am looking for an image file for my Series 2 TCD240040 unit. The thing will not get past the gray ..."powering up" screen and from what I've read - that's typically a HDD issue. Just wondering how I'd receive a clean image file? Also, can a larger drive be installed? The unit is a lifetime machine and I'm trying to revive it for my wife's viewing pleasure while she is exercising, etc. Any ideas would be cool. Thanks all! :D
Maybe getting cable and coming back to TiVo. Had them a long time ago with direct tv. So was looking at there roamio dvr for main tv and then a mini for bedroom. Now I have verizon DSL which works fine for streaming now. My question is it appears I need to use a MoCa network to set up the mini. Can this be done with DSL modem amd apple router. Really don't want to switch to cable modem at this time. Thanks.
Short form question: How do I fill out the description of a recording?
Long form: I use TiVo Desktop Plus to transfer files from my Windows 7 machine to my TiVo Series 2 DT. Occasionally, a file will not only fill out the title attribute, but the description in the resulting recording on the TiVo. I know how to change the title/recording name, but I cannot seem to find the file attribute on my computer that contains the description.
So, how can I add data that will appear as a description after I've uploaded it to my TiVo with TiVo Desktop Plus?
The final three episodes of Red Band Society will air on Fox on Saturday nights; January 31 at 9:00, and February 7 at 8:00 and 9:00.
Can a series 2 (649) be peer to peer with a 3 (652) to transfer shows, still use dial up for updates?
So, Dish is phasing out their old receivers. I had to upgrade and they sent me a 311 receiver. This has a default inactivity mode.
This thread discusses the problem, but the solution doesn't work and since this was discussed in 2006 I figure Dish has made changes since then.
tivocommunity .com /tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=321760 (Tivo Forums won't let me post a complete link, you'll have to remove the spaces)
Basically a receiver will go into a standby mode with screensaver after 4 hours of inactivity. There are two workarounds, the first being the well known "autotune" strategy by setting up a timer to automatically tune to a channel at 3am, but it looks like Dish allows us to turn off this "feature" as well.
To disable "inactivity power off mode" aka the Dish screensaver "press select to continue" on the Dish 311, hit Menu, 6, 1, 2.
6 is "System Setup" 1 is "Installation" and 2 is now "Caller ID". The other options on the page 1 takes you to are of no help. I tried them.
Has there been a new solution to this problem? Because this pretty much makes my TiVo service unuseable.
I'm a late adopter of the Mini, given the revised pricing, but I really like it (er, them; I now have two). Looking forward to occasions where we might have a lot of people here for an event (the 'big game," for example) I'd like to be able to have the same content on all three screens, pauses, RW and FF included.
How difficult would it be for TiVo to develop a software update that would allow the Minis to act as "dumb terminals" and show whatever is on the TV connected to the mothership TiVo? Or I guess the term might be mirroring, like my son's AppleTV can mirror what is playing on his MacBook Pro.
Why is only tsn listed on an upgrade email? just recievd the Roamio upgrade from premiere, but only one of the TSN's are listed when we have 2 TiVos.
I've been working on keeping my minis from sleeping using a telnet script, but I don't understand enough to do it properly.
Here's my script so far:
SEND "IRCODE CLEAR"
But I can't find anything about how to maybe delay before the "send" command (or if that's even necessary), or how to close when done, etc.
Every thread on this topic assumes telnet knowledge, so if anyone can comment, or even post a script example, that would be awesome. :)
Can I put a Blu-ray player on top of a TiVo roamio?
I believe I've answered my own questions thinking about this while lying in bed last night:
-Sometimes when I record a program when I'm not home, The program doesn't record and the "History" menu says "no signal". But when I turn the TV on, the signal is fine.
-While I'm watching a program and I go to bed early, I press "record", turn off my TV, and go to bed, only to see that the rest of my program DID NOT record.
I believe this is happening because when I turn off my TV, it also turns off my amplified Mohu Leaf 50 antenna. My antenna is plugged into my USB port of the TV so when the TV goes off, so does my antenna, therefore no signal to my Tivo and no recording.
Does this sound logical or could there be some other problem? Thanks!!
Yesterday I finally installed my CM 3018 antenna and I need to choose a splitter that will allow for MoCA in the future. I don't know the difference between Balanced / Unbalanced, 7.5Ohm / 3.5Ohm. Now I'm not even sure I've bought the right RG6 Coax.
(Mediabridge Coaxial Digital Audio/Video Cable (50 Feet) - UL CL2 In-Wall Rating - Triple Shielded F-Pin to F-Pin with Easy Grip Connector Caps - Black)
TIVO is still in the box by the way, I have to make certain this antenna pulls in all the channels it can WELL before I cut the cord. (married) if you know what I mean!
So far I've attached the antenna to the tv and programmed it, it pulls in 40 OTA channels which is good. but I need to split this to other TV's in the house and make it MoCA capable at the same time.
