I had 3 Tivos (premiere and 2 XLs). Just got a Roamio Pro to eventually replace the 2 XLs. In Tivo Desktop, I would see the 3 boxes in the drop down list for selecting shows to transfer. After activating the Roamio, the Premiere is no longer in the drop down list. It is still active and in use.
Does Desktop have a limit of 3 machines?
The same thing happens on 3 different PCs running Tivo desktop.
I have never been so irrationally giddy to see the return of a past task.
MY OX IS BROKEN!!
A moment that will live in TAR infamy.
Since its announcement, the TiVo Mega seems to have dropped out of sight.
Anyone have any recent info about it?
(Moved from another thread that no longer seems appropriate)
For the past few (couple?) weeks, my Premiere was having trouble getting channels, seemingly at random. It would try to record, but there would just be a blank screen and when the "recording" was done there would be nothing in Now Playing. At the same time, I also started having problems with extremely intermittent pixelization, drop-pouts, stutters, etc. Not constantly, but maybe a few little glitches each show.
Yesterday I got a Roamio, and since then it's been a nightmare. Frequent "Searching for channel" errors, frequent "Unauthorized" errors, frequent "Cannot get a signal" errors. If I jump from tuner to tuner, I can eventually get a channel to show up, and once I even managed to get all six tuners where I wanted them. But when I change channels, often I end up with an error again, and the problem sometimes cascades. Early in the Roamio process, they had me go to Comcast and swap out my CableCard, so now I have a new TiVo, and new CableCard, but similar problems (not identical; with the Premiere there was never an error message). At one point I was thinking I only had a certain number of functioning tuners, but that's apparently not the case since I did have six working at one point.
I've owned\upgraded (3) TiVos since 2004 and I know it happens from time to time that the Season Pass will record re-runs, but lately in the pass month I've seen a huge increase in this happening... I don't know if its because the Networks & Cable channels are rounding out their programming for the Christmas specials and they're throwing out a LOT or re-runs or there is a switch/flag not being set in the TiVo guide programming... Anyone else seeing this issue?
Thanks in advance! :)
I bought a roamio basic and a mini with the idea of using the antenna and cable at the same time. But it appears that with one coax connection, I have to use or the other but not both.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this?
My goal is to eventually leave the cable and just use the internet and the antenna.
I'm replacing a premiere xl4 and series 3. I've had terrible luck with the xl4 so I am very nervous about putting all my eggs in one basket. So far, I'm beginning to doubt my decision and am wondering if I should just pack it up and send it back, but hopefully, it will work out.
The 30 second jump feature on the Roamio is a scan rather than an jump as on older TiVos. This is not as quick as the old 30 second skip, and I don’t like seeing the scan.
Is there a way to program back in the old 30 second skip?
It works that way with AT&T Uverse equipment.
I'm not currently using MoCA, but the answer to this might help me decide how to configure some things.
Basically, I just want to know if a TiVo with a MoCA connection also functions as a MoCA-Ethernet bridge.
I have a TiVo Premiere XL (TCD748000) with an original 1 TB (WD10EVVS) drive that I think is failing. The symptoms are: recordings freeze/pixelate, no guide information, cannot rewind live TV. I used ddrescue to recover the drive to a new 1TB drive (WD10EZEX). The ddrescue process completed successfully and indicated 35 errors. Unfortunately, when I loaded the new drive into the TiVo, I experienced the same issues as I saw with the old drive. I tried a KS 57, and now am in a perpetual GSOD reboot loop.
1. Does anyone have experience with this that can offer options to get me back to a functional TiVo?
2. Can someone provide a clean OS for the TCD748000 in the even that I have to go that route?
Just got a new Roamio Pro and transferring all my recordings from a Tivo HD to it. I turned on groups under my shows hitting the A button and setting it to On. When I went to view the Tivo HD from the Roamio, it was not listing shows in Groups. I had to hit Enter and then enable Groups that way. Did this last nite.
Checked this morning to check on the transfer queue and add more shows to transfer. It was not showing Groups any more. Enabled it and then looked at my Premiewe Tivo. It was not showing groups and I had to Enter and set it then too.
Shouldn't the Groups option be set once under My SHows and be used for viewing all other remote devices also? Why did it go back to not grouping when viewing the remote HD?
Anyone else seeing this?
First of all, my Tivo Premier is hooked up to my router via two power lines, one into the router, and one into the Tivo. I've never had a problem with it.
Two days ago I added a third power line to my laptop. I didn't know exactly what I was doing, so I just plugged it into my laptop and pushed the pair button.
Ever since then, I cannot get my Tivo to hook up to the internet for downloads.
I took the power line out of my laptop. I disconnected the first two power lines and paired them up again and replaced them into the router and Tivo.
If I have the power line into the actual Tivo, it says the network cable is loose (or something to that affect). I then made sure it was a good fit. No dice.
Then I took the power line out of the Tivo and put it into the back of my Smart TV (not sure where it was originally, my husband can't remember how he set it up the first time and he doesn't know much about electronics either). The TV is connected to the internet, no problems. But when I tried to connect the Tivo to the Network via the Smart TV ethernet plug in, I get the message that there is no DHCP and that I am not connected to the internet. All this because I tried to put a power line into my laptop. It has turned into a nightmare.
Any ideas? (Remember, baby talk here, I don't know much about electronics.)
Thanks for your time.
Installed a WD My Book AV DVR Expander (1TB, SATA) on my Series 3 with no problems about a month ago. Fast forward to today and I'd like to move the drive to my new Roamio Plus, not much caring if I keep any content recorded as such. After I plugged it in to the R+ I got a message that the drive was not compatible. AFAIK, it should be so I thought I had to "decouple" the drive in the Series 3 but the instructions were to just unplug and remove.
So, is the WD NOT compatible with the Roamio Plus? If it is, what do I need to do to get it to work?
Thanks in advance.

SORRY IF THIS IS CONFUSING.
i just rec'd my new Roamio and getting some videos transferred to it from my pc. I've been using two other Tivo Premiere's for a while now and transferred videos from my pc quite a bit with no problems. All videos i try to transfer now get the same name. The first video i transferred did fine.It was the movie Frozen. All others after that were given the same name. I first thought it was being transferred several times until i watched one of the other transfers. Double checked all the settings i know of and all looks good to me. I deleted all the transfers and tried again with different videos. They were all named the same as the original video i first downloaded. I then deleted those and created another folder to put videos to be transferred. Linked to it in Tivo Desktop. Transferred a video file and it was named correctly. Then i sent a second video and it was named the same also. Is there a setting I'm missing? Tivo Desktop is set to automatically transfer to only this selected Tivo. When I copy a video to this folder it starts to transfer within a few seconds with no problem except it gets the wrong name.
(I've tried this as suggested on another forum)
1. Uninstall the TiVo Desktop Software from your computer.
2. Uninstall Bonjour from your computer.
3. Run the TiVo Desktop Cleaner by right clicking and running it as admin.
4. Re Install the TiVo Desktop Software by right clicking and running it as admin.
5. Attempt to transfer the shows again.
I tried what was suggested but it didn't work. Now my Tivo Premiere doesn't work after uninstalling and re-installing as suggested. It is now doing the same thing. In Tivo Desktop i have one folder named Transfer to Premiere and one named Transfer to Roamio. I tried using just one folder for both but it didn't work. If i rename the a folder then the very first transfer is correct but every transfer after that takes the name of the first video. If i remove the folder for the Premiere and only transfer to the Roamio it still doesn't work correctly. I have tried new folders to put files to be transferred into. Each time the first video is fine but each after gets same name. I then delete the files from folder and Tivo and delete the folder. I even created a new folder with the same name as the first original folder and put files in it to be transferred. They were renamed same as original file(Frozen) which was deleted the first time. I tried switching to Tivo Beacon but it would not transfer at all. I don't know what setting is causing this but iot didn't start until I started using the Roamio and setup a folder for it in Tivo Desktop. My next step is to uninstall/re-install Tivo Desktop and set it up to only use the Premiere and see if I can get it working correctly again. I transfer a lot of videos from my pc to the tivo and would rather not even have the Roamio if this is going to be a problem.
I have tried almost all of the above steps at least twice just to make sure I didn't miss something.
I cleared every trace I could find for Tivo folders, files and ect. Even used an Uninstaller to find almost all traces. I unplugged both Tivos hoping that would clear anything stuck. Re-downloaded Tivo Desktop and started fresh. I only setup the Roamio for transfer in Desktop. Transferred three video files. They started immediately. First file did fine with the correct name. File two and three had the same name as the first.
Tivo Desktop Plus 2.8.3

Tivo Roamio (built-in wireless to router)

I'm sorry I wrote another thread, but it wouldn't let me edit it again, some big changes I'll let you know about here.
I tried to change all my season passes to the HD channel tonight. Now any of the season passes that I changed are not recording, if I add a new season pass it doesn't show up in the season pass manager, and I tried to change the top series to the 2nd spot and it still says (updating) next to all the series in the season pass manager.
I tried rebooting twice, I have a Roamio Pro, and it should have the latest updates.
I have a Toshiba Sdh400 a that has been hooked up to a DIGITAL transport adapter for the last couple years, last week I noticed nothing recording because of no video signal on video inputs. I tried to redo the setup but I can't get an option to hook up via coax only composit. My dta never had composit.
How did it change itself and how do I get it back?
When I try to choose no cable box during set up it will not list any provider (I have comcast). I am stumped.
I setup recording for about 40 shows in season pass to SD. Tonight I was going through changing them to record on the HD channel and changing the number of recording maximum on some of the shows.
I then tried to add about 5 new HD season passes all of which are not showing up on the Season Pass Manager.
Also some of the shows are reverting back to the SD channel, although when I changed it again it now shows that it is set to record on the HD channel.
The other problem I am having is when I try to change the channel number to the HD channel it is almost always changing that, but when I tried to change the maximum number of episodes to record it waits for 30 seconds changing the setting, then I go back to check on the season pass and it shows the old maximum number of episodes and not the new number of episodes max to keep.
I tried to reboot already and it didn't help.
EDIT: I have a Roamio Pro and have had it working perfectly for about 3-4 weeks now.
I have a 1st gen Kindle Fire and while I can install the TiVo app on it, it will not allow me to stream video to it. This is something I'd like to be able to do.
I don't believe a small Windows tablet would be able to do anything like this, so I am pretty sure I'll want to find an android-based tablet.
This is most of what I'll be using the tablet for - perhaps a bit of web surfing too. Don't need anything huge, but at least 7" would be nice. Looking for something economical.
Can anyone make some suggestions on a unit that would work well for this and isn't too behind-the-times (if at all)???
I want to upgrade my Tivo HD to 500GB. Can I simply clone my current drive to the larger blank 1 using any method? or is there something special about a TiVo drive that requires something more specific?
I have a Mini in my office. It is connected to the Roamio in the main house through a router that connects to an Apple Airport, which has the Roamio plugged into it.
It works fine most of the time, but at least once or twice a day, it drops the connection and I have to restart everything to get it going again.
How can I prevent this? Would running an ethernet line directly from the Mini to the Airport help?
