I've read multiple posts regarding the lack of support for HTIB products and I'm puzzled as to why Tivo can't support them? I have a Samsung HT-D550 and my old Verizon Fios remote worked with it just fine. It seems my only option is to spend more money on a learning remote or another Harmony. Or has anyone come up with another solution?
Long time customer here of Verizon FIOS.
The quality of their internet and television services have always been excellent. And, of course, FIOS matches up extremely well with Tivo.
However, I am a HUGE fan of college sports. Verizon is lacking in this area, in my opinion. Vz never did pick up the Pac 12 network and now it appears that they will fail to carry the SEC network either. This might be the final straw for me.
My other option is Time Warner Cable. They DO have all the channels that I want.
I hesitate to switch because I am not sure if Time Warner will work with my Tivos(premiere and roamio) as well as FIOS does.
I like this show but I swear to God and all things holy, if they bring the Swede back again as a villain, I swear I'm throwing my shoe at the tv. Now that the Mormons know he's a murdering imposter, he needs to be dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.
For some reason, when Bohannon and his wife crossed paths with the Indian with the wounded arm, I expected Elam to come walking out from behind a bush or something.
Anyone watching this quirky show? I think it is a hoot. The host is fun to watch and you learn some interesting facts along the way. Recent episodes include:
How to Open a Door
How to Swat a Fly
How to Light a Match
How to Throw a Paper Airplane
How to Tie Your ShoesIt is on the National Geographic Channel on Mondays at 10 PM (and also on Hulu). You can watch some video on their website
. Here is a description of the show from the website:
This is a how-to show of epic proportions that teaches you how to do the things you think you already know how to do. Each episode of this hilariously dry-witted how-to adventure series, David Rees, humorist and self-made aficionado of the everyday, tackles unassuming tasks such as tying your shoes or making the perfect ice cube for your delicious beverages. Get to know the science and the history behind the seemingly mundane and uncover an unexpected appreciation for even the simplest of tasks. Think you already know everything there is to know about swatting a fly? Think again.
The return of (among others)
The Big Bang Theory
since the last UPDATE my Tivo Premiere fails to recover audio after a pause. I have to rewind, and that sometimes works, OR totally shut off the tv and tivo and start over.
I see people are reporting this problem with the Roamios as well.
When do you plan to have a fix?
Interesting - I think this is why Microsoft killed Media Center PC
Streaming TV requires that users have the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, which was announced last week and will initially be available to a limited pool of launch countries, including the UK and France beginning soon and ahead of the full-scale launch in October.
The media player will be capable of playing just about any file you can throw at it, including .avi, .jpg, .gif, .mov, .mp3, .mpeg, .wma and .wmv.
Microsoft is planning to release a digital TV tuner adapter to allow European Xbox One owners to turn their consoles into a TV set-top box. Launching in October in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK, the 29.99 EUR ($40) accessory will plug into a USB port to pick up channels using free-to-air DVB-T, DVB-T2, and DVB-C television standards. This will enable the TV functionality on Xbox One alongside TV listings from OneGuide and a pause live TV option without the need for a separate set-top box and IR blasting through Kinect.
Although pausing live TV will undoubtedly use part of the 500GB of hard drive storage on the Xbox One temporarily, Microsoft has not committed to providing DVR functionality with its digital TV tuner to schedule and record programs. It's possible Microsoft may choose to enable DVR functionality in a future update. Microsofts Xbox One Digital TV Tuner accessory is similar to Sonys PlayTV device for the PlayStation 3. PlayTV allowed the PS3 to act as a digital TV tuner and DVR, but Sony has not yet revealed a similar device for the PlayStation 4.
I've spent an hour on the phone with Verizon and they are sending a new card. I am receiving some channels, but not all (they are all in different tiers)
Does this sound like a defective card or is something wrong on their end?
Anyone catch this on CNBC? If you enjoyed The Profit, you likely would enjoy this show...
The only thing I don't like about it is the woman, whose name I forget. I like how Joe and Tim can choose to make a deal together, make no offer, or make unique deals. It has good promise. The spoilers ruin the show though, as if you watch them you already know which team they pick the following week!
I want to be able to create my own folder within the My Shows directory. I currently have like 4 seasons recorded of one of my kid's favorite shows. To have to scroll through like 100 recorded shows to find the one that you want to watch is just annoying... I want to be able to just create my own folder and label it like Season 1, Season 2, etc... so I can move the episodes around to make it more manageable..
I am new to this forum since I just bought my first Tivo last month.. My current setup has:
1 Tivo Roamio Plus
2 Tivo Minis
Is there a place where I can post to ask Tivo to add features to their User Interface?? I particularly wanted more then one Favorites Channels list.. One of my minis is used by kids only. Another one is used by my wife. They would obviously want different favorites channels.. Kids want the Hub, Cartoon Network, Disney channel, etc.. While my wife wants Nat Geo Wild, ID, TNT, etc....
Right now, that is not possible. Only the Roamio is allowed to create a favorites list and there is only 1 favorites list... Is there is a sneaky way around this or am I just stuck?? Thanks again for any advice or pointers you can give me...
Can I connect the TIVO Series2 to a cable box output (the output that goes to the TV) and just use it as a DVR? still using the cable service Guide etc, instead of TIVO's...
I had a Comcast internet outage (CATV was fine) a couple of nights ago. When I went to stream (local) a show from my Roamio Pro using the Tivo ipad app I was unable to connect to the Tivo. I tried connecting by user/password and by Media access key and it wouldn't work. I think I understand why the user/password didn't work since that is probably going out to Tivo.com for verification. But why doesn't connecting with the media access key work? Why do you need internet access for that? Thanks.
Just noticed that The Wire plays in 16:9 when viewed on Amazon's Prime Instant Streaming service.
I assumed that this was Amazon matting the original 4:3 frame, but to be sure I started S01E01 from the DVD on my TV, and the same episode from Amazon on my phone.
Amazon's image isn't cutting off anything from the top and bottom of the image - it's actually a true widescreen frame with more image on the left and right.
Also, Amazon's picture quality is better than the old DVDs (YMMV depending on bandwidth, I guess).
I skipped ahead a few seasons on Amazon and they look to be 16:9 the whole way through. Time for another rewatch!
ABC's 20/20 tomorrow night (8/12) will be a tribute to Robin Williams.
If you hear about others, please post here.
My apologies if I missed this issue somewhere else, but initial search struck out.
I have my Mini - which I am deeply in love with - running into the HDMI pass through of my Xbone. I am frequently getting the "HDMI connection not permitted" error. If I unplug and replug the HDMI cable in the Mini, the video feed starts right up.
Is this more an Xbox One issue or a Mini one?
I have a 1TB internal HD and a 500GB external HD. I have a full backup of both drives using DvrBARS. Can I restore to a 2TB internal HD? Used WinMFS to upgrade. I need to keep all of my recordings.
Hi all! I hope someone is able to assist because I refuse to believe no one has yet to encounter this. I just purchased a condo with 4 tvs. I LOVE my roamio so I decided to use it. Each tv is wired directly to the tv tower in the street (Homeruns). My roamio works fine but I can't seem to set up my minis even though the moca is enabled. Because of the layout of the condo, it's not possible to split the roamio line and run to another tv. Any ideas? I'm a HUGE tv person and only having it on one tv is killing me. Thanks!!
