I have a Tivo Premiere Elite XL4. It is almost two years old. I have a problem with two shows in my Deleted Shows folder. They will not permanently delete.
(i) hard boot (power off/on) with shows Deleted and with shows not Deleted
(ii) kick start option 57
(iii) kick start option 58
(iv) kick start option 54 -SMART Test
(v) playing the shows through:
--show 1 crashes the Tivo intermittently
--show 2 plays after a long delay (black screen) at the beginning.
(vi) various combinations of the above
I am fairly certain that they are corrupted but have exhausted suggestions I've found to remove them.
It wouldn't be a priority for me except that it is causing other problems. The two files take about 30% of the total space on my Tivo (the disk full percentage changes between 60% and 90% depending on whether the shows are deleted or not.) Together, the files are about 7 hours of playback, so the size doesn't make sense.
Even when the files are deleted, the Tivo is deleting recently recorded shows and canceling recordings (out of space) despite the 60% used indicator. This is what prompted me to start investigating.
Short of deleting and reinstalling everything, has anyone seen this problem or have suggestions.
Glad it's back. More glad that Shakira and Usher are back.
Looks like Shakira and Blake have a little something going this year.
It sometimes amazes me when no chairs turn, then even more so when someone I think is lousy all 4 chairs turn. Bad ears I guess, too many years working in a data center.
I recently bought a Roamio Plus and copied over our Season Passes from our trusty old Tivo HD. However, although we had been using "regular" SPs for The Daily Show and Colbert Report on my old Tivo, when we moved to the Roamio they started recording multiple shows per day, instead of just the 11:00 and 11:30 showings.
So, I went ahead and set up Wishlist searches using Martin Tupper's excellent advice (I tried to link it but wasn't allowed). However, even though I "named" the Wishlists after creating them, they appear in "My Shows" using the first keyword from the search, e.g. "-A humorous slant on top news stories". Is there some way to fix this? I'd much prefer that "My Shows" would state the wishlist name ("The Daily Show") instead of the keyword. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how to correct this.
Title says it all, really.
I got an email this morning stating that the final eight episodes of BB are now available to stream.
So, if you've been waiting to see them or if you want to re-watch, there they are!
If your receiver switches to TV Input (instead of staying on the input that the Tivo is connected to) after several seconds after turning your TV on, this is the explanation. The Tivo does not support HDMI-CEC. When a TV that supports HDMI-CEC does not detect that a HDMI-CEC compatible device is connected, it will tell a HDMI-CEC receiver to switch to TV Input.
You can disable HDMI-CEC. But that will also disable ARC. And you will have to add another cable to get audio from the TV to the receiver.
The best solution is for Tivo to implement enough of the HDMI-CEC spec to keep the TV from deciding to change the receiver's input.
There are other threads complaining about the lack of HDMI-CEC support in the Tivo. I am detailing a real world problem that this is causing. This is going to become more and more of an issue as people buy new TVs that support HDMI-CEC.
Here is another thread with further explanation and additional work arounds:
The season 6 premiere of "Beyond Scared Straight" on A&E is this Friday night, however the guide indicates that it is a repeat of a season 3 episode (probably because they have similar episode titles as both episodes take place in the same prison).
Might want to set up a single show record in case the guide is not updated before it airs.
I cut cable and watch OTA mostly on Roamio.
However, I noticed that there are unscrambled channels still coming in from my cable.
I know Roamio (basic) works with both OTA and Cable... however not sure how to set this up so that I don't have to manually replace coax for OTA and cable? Is there a splitter that works with remote?
Also, how does Roamio take care of channel setups and season passes if we switch between OTA and Cable?
Ok, so I have some hearing damage and so I often leave the captioning on.
I have recently moved up from a Premiere XL to a Premier Pro and have an issue on the Roamio
With the captioning on, and set to 3/4 transparent, when there is a lot of horizontal movement behind the captioning, they sometimes appear to "quiver".
The Roamio is plugged into the same input on my receiver/same input as the tv as the XL was, so its not an artifact of the LCD image processing/settings on either of them.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
Do I need to be concerned about Intellipark in my new HDD?
If my Tivo works 24/7 then the HDD never stops so why should I be concerned about Intellipark?
Good evening everyone.
I think I'm going to be sad, but I think my Roamio is a bust. I've had it 3 weeks now, and about once a week, maybe slightly more, it starts to artifact. At first it just has a few video blemishes, but then gets gradually worse over 30 minute period. At first it's just video, then audio starts to dip in and out.
Now, I've only left it for about 30 minutes to see if it would solve itself, but every time it happens, I restart the box and all is perfectly fine after the reboot.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Oh, how I've missed this show in all its goofy, over-the-top glory.
More specifically, how I've missed James Spader and the chemistry he has with, apparently, the entire human race.
I've had a HDXL w/ a M card (Comcast) for a couple of years and, up to about a week ago, had no issues.
Now however, I've had a couple of incidents where channels or whole lineups would not be available. These seem to come and go... For example, we lost Fox SD & HD on Sunday afternoon and it we noticed that it was back tonight. However, it looks like one of our local PBS stations has been out for a while.
I haven't tried replacing the CC yet, but figured that it may be the next step. Having stated that... is it possible that the CC port is bad on the TiVo and that I'll need to replace the whole unit?
Just seeing if anyone else had similar experiences...
I am very very sorry if this has already been answered on another thread, but I've been searching and my frustrations have gotten the better of me. I just want to copy/clone my Tivo HD's hard drive (1TB). I've looked up and downloaded MFSLive and JMFS I can't figure out how to do it.
Can someone please advise me?
I'd like to copy the drives using my USB drive enclosures (aka put the new HDD and the Tivo HDD in USB drive enclosures and clone that way). I tried to follow the instructions on the MFSLive web site and burned a bootable disk, which didn't work. I also downloaded & opened WinMFS in Windows 8 via bootcamp and the drives don't show.. >sigh<
So again, can someone please give me a step by step? I have no idea what I'm missing... thanks in advance!
On friday my Tivo S3 got a software update to 11.3b7-01-2-652 and now all my channels except for the basic channels now say "This channel is not authorized".
Anyone else having this issue?
I called Verizon FIOS because I thought it was their issue, they came out and change the cable cards, cables, ONT and everything looked good on their end.
I can even take out the cable cards from the 2-series 3's that are not working and put them in to my Series 4 and I get all the channels.
Tivo support said maybe 1-2 weeks for a fix. :(
Wow, this season is turning out to be one of my favorites! A lot of interesting things happening, unfortunately all bad!
One thing I was thinking about. Earlier, Frank befriended his oldest daughter without telling her he's her Dad. He just wanted to get a piece of her liver. When it turns out that Sammi was not a match in his anger Frank blurts out that she was his daughter. At that point Sammi gets real mad at Frank and kicks him out of her trailer. A while later (I'm not sure its in the same episode or another) Sammi changes her mind and is willing to do anything to help Frank, including now getting him hard drugs or even breaking into Shelia's house. The big question is why did Sammi have such a major change of heart.
My theory is that Sammi is really after the money that Frank may get from claiming that he broke is leg on Shelia's front steps and/or any other money or possessions Frank may have if he dies.
And I still think Frank will NOT die, although I'll bet you the season finale will have Frank on death's bed and then we'll have to wait until the next season (I'm hopefully assuming its renewed for at least another season!) to see if he really dies, which I'm still saying he will not!
One of my TiVo Premier devices shows a program as in the process of recording when it is not. This started over a week ago when I tried to stop the recording of an olympics hockey game while it was in the process of recording. It seemed to accept the command to stop recording but the partially recorded program still has the red circle next to it. It will let me select stop recording again and seems to acknowledge this request but it still shows that it is recording. I can't delete it as when I select the program and the press the clear button I only get the stop recording screen which doesn't do anything. This has been going on for over a week! I have tried cycling power on the unit twice but it still shows this program as recording with the red circle next to it.
Does anyone know how I can convince the TiVo that this program is not recording so I can delete it (other than deleting and clearing everything)! Thanks!
Growing Up Fisher was the second of two pilots NBC ran at the end of the Olympics. ("About a Boy"
was the first.)
"In the new NBC comedy, Growing Up Fisher, which bowed Sunday night, J.K. Simmons (The Closer, Oz) plays a blind lawyer named Mel who must navigate his career and family after getting a divorce
all with the help of his young son and guide dog."
It appears to be based on the real life of showrunner D.J. Nash, whose dad was blind. Similar in concept to The Goldberg's in that aspect.
I liked the pilot. JK Simmons was great as the blind dad/lawyer. I wasn't thrilled with Jenna Elfman's character (she plays the mom). One, she's way too young to be his wife. Two, the whole "want to rediscover my youth" story just feels awkward. I don't want to watch episodes where she tries to wear the same clothes as her 16 yr old daughter. If they can find ways to take advantage of Elfman's natural screen persona (the wacky free spirit) and still fit her into the story, the show could do well. Otherwise, we're back to 1600 Penn, which cratered when viewers realized there was no cast chemistry.
One thing they need to resolve is why the divorce, and how that affects family dynamics. They didn't really give us any reason for a divorce, other then Elfman wants to discover the youth she never had (she married young). But why a divorce? And then they show the family getting along so well at the end, so again, why divorce?
They did a great job pulling the blind aspect of the dad into the story. I always think of blind people as helpless (I know, terrible stereotyping on my part :o), but here they had him doing everything. Like chain-sawing a tree (you gotta see it to believe it).
Looking forward to the next couple episodes to see if this can gel or not. Growing Up Fisher moves to its regular timeslot this Tuesday, Febuary 25 at 9:30/8:30c.
i have cat 6a run throughout my house. my patch panel is a cat 6 panel.
on my HP gigabit switch, i have minis blinking gigabit connection but roamio pro blinking 10/100. does this sound right to anyone?
can I record an on-demand show? some will expire soon and I want them to see later on.
Wondering if anyone has heard about cancelled shows? Specifically Almost Human?
I hope not, but what I am reading online is that it's a maybe. However, I am just doing a general google and not sure where to go for specifics if they are out there.
