TV Couples We Wish Existed!

Fri, 08/10/2012 - 09:49
Everyone has their opinion on TV couples they love and couples they hate – whether it’s Ross and Rachel from Friends or George and Izzi (yes, we still remember that) on Grey’s Anatomy. Do you ever watch TV and feel the urge to play matchmaker? We do. While we still can’t come to a consensus on a better match for Peter from Family Guy, we have decided on the following 3 TV couples we wish existed: Jim & Maggie on “The Newsroom” Don’s rivalry with Jim has gone from professional to personal. Continue Reading

The London Olympic Games may be drawing to a close, but TiVo viewers remained engaged, viewing many historic events as part of last night’s TiVo Top Moments. The extraordinary victory of Usain Bolt and Jamaica in the men’s 200m ranked first among last night’s Top Moments: Bolt pounded his chest and smiled, uttered a quick prayer before the start, took a strong lead and did not give it up. Bolt kept his title of World Champion and took home the gold for Jamaica and became the first man to win the 100m Continue Reading

Women’s beach volleyball and track & field shared the spotlight for TiVo’s Top Moments of last night’s Olympics coverage on NBC. The most watched moment was the last few seconds of the women’s beach volleyball final between two USA teams: Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings vs. April Ross and Jennifer Kessy.  Ross and Kessy were strong contenders for the gold medal, casting doubt on the historic May-Treanor/Walsh Jennings duo’s claim to winning their third gold medal in London.  Suspense heightened after a shaky first half for May-Treanor/Walsh Jennings, but their Continue Reading

Who Shot J.R.?

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 13:49
Fans of the original Dallas series will never forget that line and TV historians will never forget what that scene did for television. It’s been said that the final scene of the season in 1980, where Larry Hagman’s character J.R. Ewing was shot by an unknown assailant, is one of the most unforgettable cliffhangers in prime time dramatic television. Dallas is also commonly credited with helping to popularize the trend in the US to end a television season with a cliffhanger. With the first season of the Dallas TNT reboot Continue Reading

Led by Aly Raisman, the USA women’s gymnastics team continued to dominate TiVo’s most-watched moments on Day 11 of the London Olympics. In the women’s balance beam finals, the bronze medal came down to a tie between Raisman and Romania’s Catalina Ponor, in which the winner was decided by who had the higher execution score. Raisman’s higher score allowed her to top Ponor for bronze on the beam, but the two continued their competition in the next televised event. In the women’s floor exercise finals, Raisman nailed one of her Continue Reading

Tue, 08/07/2012 - 07:23
Monday, August 6 was an uneven night of Olympic competition on NBC during primetime.  For 41 minutes, between 10:24-11:04 PM coverage focused on the women’s uneven bars competition and all top five moments occurred during this timeframe.  The London Games presented a solid cross-section of events last night.  There was the USA-Latvia men’s beach volleyball competition with Latvia securing the win and sending the USA home medal less in the event.  There was also plenty of gritty men’s cycling competition to watch with home country Great Britain securing the gold.  Continue Reading

In the women’s vault final, Team USA learned there is no such thing as a “sure thing.” McKayla Maroney of USA, who earlier in these Olympics stuck an amazing vault, was highly expected to come away with gold; however, her failed second vault – which became TiVo’s Top Moment for Day 9 – proved that there are no sure things: Romania’s Sandra Izbasa needed to two perfect vaults to best Maroney and did just that, scoring a 15.196 and taking the gold. Track and field events dominated the rest of Continue Reading

And we’ve been watching what you’re watching. But there are some golden moments – literally – that haven’t made the Top 5 that we Continue Reading

Gymnastics ratings leaped off the charts of TiVo’s Top Moments for Day 6 of the Olympics. The most-watched moment was Gabby Douglas winning the gold medal for Women’s Gymnastics All-Around Final, followed by Douglas’ sparkling floor routine and Aly Raisman’s slips on the balance beam. Aly Raisman was team USA’s last hope for a high score on balance beam. NBC commentators and American audiences cried out as Raisman flailed and lost her balance along with her claim to a medal. Another nail biting moment: Gabby Douglas’s unsuccessful challenge to the title of Aliya Mustafina, Russian gymnast Continue Reading

Swimming once again provided dramatic highlights on Day 5 of the Olympic Games. USA’s Nathan Adrian took the top spot on the podium and the top spot for the most-watched moment of Wednesday’s primetime coverage. Adrian won the men’s 100m freestyle by a fingertip – a mere hundredth of a second was the margin of victory over Australian James Magnussen. Daniel Gyuta of Hungary set a new world record in the 200m  breaststroke, finishing ahead of the host country’s Michael Jamieson. Men’s gymnastics took center stage with a disappointing performance by John Orozco on Continue Reading

Women’s Gymnastics captured the top spots for the most-watched moments on Day 4 of the Olympic Games. McKayla Maroney came to London so she could dominate the vault. Last night, Maroney performed one of the most difficult and dangerous vaults and stuck a perfect landing, which landed her in first place on the TiVo Top Moments. Another highlight for American audiences was watching Russian gymnast, Anastasia Grishina, lose her balance while performing in the team artistic event. Swimming finals dominated the most-watched moments during day 3 of the London Olympic Games, followed by men’s gymnastics. John Orozco’s pommel horse woes were perhaps the lowest moment for the USA Men’s Gymnastics Team and landed Orozco in the day’s TiVo Top Moments. Another disappointment for Team USA was John Lochte’s fourth-place finish in the 200m freestyle, missing the podium by a tenth of a second. However, not all TiVo Top Moments from day 3 were low points for Team USA: Missy Franklin’s performance in the women’s 100m backstroke – less Continue Reading
