Fri, 06/07/2013 - 12:17
TV shows are constantly evolving on the quest for higher ratings, and each new episode is chock-full of surprises. Characters come and go as storylines throw curve balls your way, but the theme song remains the same, always faithful. A guaranteed staple each and every week, a good theme song expresses the essence of a show. Some, like The Brady Bunch, compose their own songs. In just under a minute, you know that you’re going to watch a story about a lovely lady, a man named Brady, and the family Continue Reading

Saving Our Favorite Shows

Fri, 05/31/2013 - 15:27
Unfortunately, it happens too often … our favorite TV shows are unexpectedly cancelled. Some series don’t even finish their current season before the axe comes down; others get cut after a short lifespan. Thankfully, streaming services have started saving shows, like Don’t Trust the B—— in Apt 23, as well as soap operas, and the widely popular Arrested Development. Hulu released the eight unaired Don’t Trust the B— episodes after the show was cancelled in the middle of its season. Don’t be left wondering “What happened inside Apartment 23?” and Continue Reading

Your Guilty Pleasure Summer is here!

Thu, 05/30/2013 - 10:00
We’re not ashamed to admit that we watch a lot of television. It sort of comes with the territory of working at TiVo. Our conference rooms are named after TV shows, our business cards have our favorite TV shows listed on the back and we may be some of the only people who’ve watched full seasons of things like NBC’s short-lived “Friends” spin-off “Joey“. But sometimes…sometimes it’s a bit harder to admit who we’re spending our TV time with. Those folders we wish we could hide in our “My Shows” Continue Reading

Fri, 05/17/2013 - 13:35
TiVo Research and Analytics profiles the viewers of broadcast morning shows using purchaser data and advanced demographics. In the relentless battle amongst national broadcasters to attract more and more eyeballs for their morning day-part programs, gross ratings points based on age/gender have been the traditional indicator for win or loss. TiVo Research and Analytics, Inc. (TRA) has taken a different approach to looking at performance. Not all ratings are created equal, and each network and program performs differently depending on the audience that is intended to be reached. So, who’s Continue Reading

Happy First Mother’s Day, Kristin Cavallari!

Fri, 05/10/2013 - 12:40
This is a contributed blog post by Kristin Cavallari. Kristin Cavallari is a paid spokesperson for TiVo. My first Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and I couldn’t be more excited. There really aren’t words to describe the joy that being a mother brings and what it’s like seeing the world through Cam’s eyes. Being a new mom definitely has its challenges, though. The best advice I’ve received is to not listen to advice because every mom and baby is different. With that in mind, one piece of advice I would Continue Reading
