I played with YouTube and Netflix quite a bit tonight and the DIAL integration with the iPad is very cool!

The YouTube app gives a perfect example of what can be done with the HTML5 App Store and integration with the iPad takes something that I never used before to something I will definitely enjoy playing with.

Spell check! Actually, it kind of works in the sentence. :)

I was going to add a snippet, but then it just sounded dirty.... :)

Is there somewhere that lists the ways that you can use the dial support? I was able to use my chromecast using from youtube.com, but the tivo doesn't show up. and there doesnt seem to be anything in the tivo roamio manual.

Is anyone getting the "loading..." text in the middle of the screen that never goes away? Mine was working ok initially, but the last couple of times I started a video using dial, "loading..." appears on the screen, and then never goes away. During video, after video, next video, the "loading..." text stays right in the middle of the screen. If I fire up youtube from the tivo it doesn't happen.

Not sure if you'll be able to throw stuff from the web browser like you can with the chromecast.

From the youtube and netflix iOS apps I saw my roamio and mini show up automatically. I didn't have to do any special configuration.

Chromecast is more then simple DIAL protocol - what TiVo offers isn't going to match the functionality offered by that device, however the TiVo can take advantage of products updated for the Chromecast dongle - the key is TiVo needs to have a companion app installed to control - like Netflix and YouTube.

I expect to see an updated Pandora app and others as well. I read yesterday that HBO GO was implementing DIAL support - so all we need is for TiVo to negotiate with Home Box Office!

Hulu Plus was just updated with cast support. Didn't seem to work for the Roamio. At least not yet. Hoping Tivo updates the Hulu app to support it.

It does require an update to the companion app. I am sure the TiVo app isn't a priority, and not sure if they would update the existing app or convert the TiVo to the standard HTML5 app.

    Baltimore,...
My roamio showed up as a cast device on my ipad youtube app, for a while. Now it does not show up. I have re-booted everything. How can I get it back? When I call TIVO, there is a 90% chance the support rep has never heard of DIAL, Casting, etc... Can anyone assist? thx
