I saw this listed in the schedule a while back but knew very little about it. I started watching it when it aired a few weeks ago and it's been a bit of an eye opener. I believed in global warming before I started watching this, but I think it should be mandatory viewing for every right-wing conservative Republican out there that still has their head up their ass on the subject.

What's ironic is that some of the most fervent proponents of global warming are from the same groups that don't believe it's an issue. If you're on the fence about it or just want to know what it's all about, I highly recommend the series. It's a 7-parter airing on Showtime Sunday nights.

The guy in the office next to me just brought in pictures from 20-30 years ago of a big snow storm and we both agreed that this last winter (which most people seem to think was extreme in New England) was really pretty lame when compared to the average winter from back then.

He'll be back in his office soon arguing that climate change doesn't exist.

By the way, after this coming weekend the show is moving to Mondays at 7 (8 Eastern).

Which for me takes it out of a logjam, but YMMV.

I grew up in Maryland about 7 miles north of Annapolis. When I was a kid, the Severn River that runs past the Naval Academy routinely froze over every year. I could actually walk all the way to Annapolis on the ice from my parent's house. We used to go ice skating every year and there were even ice boats sailing on the ice. I even recall one year when the Chesapeake Bay froze and they had to break through the ice to let the ships pass to and from Baltimore Harbor. Except for this past winter, I haven't seen ice on the river for several decades.

On another note, but somewhat related to the latest episode, Michael Grimm, who is a representative from Staten Island and a focal point of the episode's discussion with respect to tropical storm Sandy, has just been indicted on fraud charges. I'll bet the producers are now wishing they had picked someone else to interview for the segment.

Just started watching season 2. I must admit my feelings towards the issues raised in the first two episodes (solar power & sea level rise) are now skewed by the election results. :(
