I am playing with Windows 7 on a netbook. I have transferred a .tivo file to that machine and installed TiVo Desktop 2.7. Windows Media Player 11 seems to recognize that it should be able to play this file, but does not render a thumbnail nor play the file.

Has anyone had any luck with Win7? Supposedly it already contains an mpeg-2 codec, so that should not be the problem.

Yes, I found that link. The program runs and shows appropriate decoders, but will not render the file structure in Win 7. Some sort of runtime error. Works find for me on this XP machine, but the .tivo files also play......

Found the solution: TiVo Desktop has to have a Media Access Key. I had not entered one, as I did not want two servers running on the network. But once in, WMP plays the files.
