Why are so many You tube videos not showing up in my Premier XL

I am getting only a fraction of the You Tube videos that are on my computer. I am not even getting all that I have selected as favorites in my account. I have allowed transfers and I have no problem getting all the movies I select on Netflix.

But when I do a search for a topic on You tube, it seems that I can get maybe 5-10 page changes maximum and then the selections end. The little "down indicator" at the bottom goes away, the highlight box goes to the last video on the page and it refuses to show any more. It seems like the TiVo has a small set limit that it will display and that's it.

I have tried all variations of the search, such as clicking "more like this" but I come to the same dead end and it is usually the same videos.

I called TiVo about it and they can't give me an answer. It's ridiculous how few I can see compared to the computer. Even if I search the exact wording of the video as on my computer, it still may not appear.

Shouldn't the video selections just continue on and on like the computer?

What is going on? Does the TiVo decide what I can see?

Its because the tivo access's a version of the mobile youtube site. Not the full site. Its the same thing with smartphones, you only get the videos that youtube has converted to work with phones / tv's. No way to get the full youtube without using a pc with tv-out.

Thanks, you were the only one that had the courtesy to tell me that. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is not technically versed enough to know that. And I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

This is not made clear on any of the Premier promotional info. It says that you have access to "millions" of YouTube videos. That would lead any unknowing person to believe it would function just as in the computer. That's a blatant misrepresentation and these limitations should be explained in the info.

    Thanks again for your reply.

You could use HME/VLC Video Streamer to stream YouTube videos. Still need a PC but the tv-out is not required.

When I was researching whether to buy the Premier I was totally under the impression that it was able to replicate the YouTube we have on computers. I had no idea that YouTube only provided certain ones and that is not stated in the Premier descriptions or operation manual. In fact, there is no mention of limitations at all.

Taken right from the TiVo website describing the Premier:

If it's on YouTube, you can now watch it on your tube

From surprised kittens to sneezing baby pandas, you'll now be able to search for, browse and enjoy millions of FREE YouTube videos right on your TV. The possibilities are endless.

That's not remotely accurate. It also does not state that frame by frame advance is not possible either on YouTube or any of the streaming videos. This is another feature I use a lot and was surprised to find out that this also was not possible...only after connecting it.

I am still not unhappy with the Premier because it has so many other benefits such as the Netflix, Amazon and Blockbuster instant videos. But it would have been nice to know that YouTube was going to be far different than it is on my computer. I found that really quite irritating in how limited the video selections are. ..........TiVo needs to do some revision work on their written materials.
