I don't think I saw a consolidated poll on this but with all the metadata issues it got me wondering.

Right now I'm using one of my Premieres and a Bolt. Love the Bolt!

Fortunately, I can use MRV and transferring stuff, and they communicate well. Aside from the regular recording and viewing, and some streaming, that's about all I do with my machines. The Premieres were kind of slow and wonky for streaming, so I used Roku3. But the Bolt is fast for streaming. BIG difference.

Too bad the software doesn't allow multiple answers.

And is missing some options. Tablo, HDHomerun, Plex DVR ... even Mstar boxes (All of them could be lumped into the same Mstar category). I know all of the ones I have been looking at in closer details to potentially replace TiVo aren't in the poll list.

The survey, in addition to reflecting earlier TiVo models, probably also should reflect TiVo OTA vs. cable use more clearly--specifically, does "TiVo OTA" mean OTA use on any TiVo or is it a reference to the Roamio OTA? Some people, especially in earlier years, may have purchased a cable/OTA-capable TiVo but only be using it for OTA purposes. But perhaps I'm envisioning a different survey, to get TiVo-specific breakdowns (I probably am).

Given that this is a TiVo-oriented site (!), I wonder how "valid" the survey results are as to other DVR, etc. use.

Surprise! A poll on a TiVo community forum shows overwhelming use of .... wait for it ... TiVo's!

What useful result could be expected from this poll?

First of all I hit a limit in the poll choices.

Second I sensed over the years that there were a number of people on other platforms such as DTV/Dish/... having conversations here. I was kind of curious to see if there was a noticeable percentage outside of Tivo given all the complaints over the last few years and the OTA phenonom.
I wasn't looking so much for specific models but really a sense of whether people were dropping off of Tivo given all the chatter.

Maybe, if you could pick more than one choice there would be some value. Otherwise I am at a Tivo forum and I have a Tivo so that's what I would pick. I do however use another DVR also, though not on your list.

    Poll fail. I have 3 TiVos (1-antenna & 2-cable), and a DirecTV Genie.

    Could you add
    • windows media center (ceton / homerun)
    • Homerun native
    • Plex DVR
    • Emby DVR
Or some such, I think you will find some WMC rejects like myself here. I run my WMC and native homerun DVR with channels as a skunk project (TiVo just became my WAF choice).

I also stream Vue with a FireTV. Vue has a cloud DVR.

Yea I wish I could redo it. I considered the OTA markedly different enough from the Cable version to want to separate them. It wasn't so much about curiosity of manufacturers as to providers and which DVR you chose but thats my fault.

I've got a TiVo Premiere and a TiVo Roamio OTA. The Premiere may get retired at some point in the near-ish future if I decide that cable isn't worth it anymore.
