Hey, what happend to the Forum default entry? Until today, entering www.tivocommunity.com brought up a listing of the newest entries in the Main TiVo Forums, upon which view I rely a great deal. Now, however, it comes up on this nauseous-making entry screen. What's worse, I don't see any simple way to bring up a list of the most recent posts in the Main TiVo Forums. Clicking on the <New Posts> tab brings up a list of vittually nothing but a bunch of inane chit-chat from the Off-Topic forums.

Who changed this, and why, and more mportantly can we get it changed back?

No, I do not mean that screen. Not even close. A large percentage of the conferences in that view are not in the main forums. It also does not show the most recent posts in the main forums, only the single most recent post in each conference. I do use that screen from time to time, but only occasionally.

First of all, we aplogize--this indeed did go away, but I'm confident nothing else is missing.

Second, there is a great (and easy) way to customize a "new posts" search to exclude the forums you don't want. Here's an example, removing all the "off topic" areas:

    http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=5,45,39,59,63,15

You can simply add forum ID's to the exclude parameter at the end to exclude additional forums.

I'm looking into getting this added to the navigation bar as well.

    Cheers,

    Pete

At least now when looking at post I don't have to click back button 4 or more times to get back to forum, like I've had to last week or so.

Some are, some aren't. Forum changes on big sites like this always have a breaking in period with the types who hate it being the most vocal.

I went over the AVS after this thread, and I'm ok with it, and it's performing well, I have zero issues with the new software there.

I don't have a prob with the new AVS, and I spend a ton of time over there. Bottom line though is that a portion of folks will not like any changes to their fave forums.

Trying to use the AVS site at work is a pain now. It bogs down the PC tremendously. Most of the PCs here are still 3Ghz single core Pemtium CPUs. Hopefully I'll get upgraded to a quad core soon and I won't have issues with the AVS site.
I have no issues on my dual core cell phone or any of my PCs at home.

I always thought that was a Tivo thing, like hitting the thumbs up or down three times. :D

I don't notice that, and we have 8-year old 2.4Ghz P4's here. But I do run Firefox with AdBlock+FlashBlock, which probably makes a huge difference.

This is with IE7. So maybe the old IE browser is the issue.

EDIT: Thanks. I guess that was the issue. I tried it with Fiefox and there is no issue with that browser(FireFox and IE the only browser choices here at work). So I can use Firefox for AVS and Internet Explorer 7 for everything else.
