For all the growing divisions among Ragnar's network, it's touching that they can put aside their differences for a moment, united in their desire to see Jarl Borg suffer a horrible death. :D

At first, I thought the other English king was Robert Baratheon.

Who gets it, Horik or Ragnar? Do the jarlspeople just roll over or do they fight to remain independent? Do they get to keep Jarl Borg's ships? Will the show just gloss over these details?

Previously they had gotten into details when Borg & Horick negotiated about Horick's land about which they were in dispute.

I was surprised by the Englsih lack of knowledge abou the Romans since I believe they are mentioned in Beowulf. (It has been a long time but I remember, they knew where the roads came from.)

Yeah, as I said before Rome was pretty common knowledge in medieval Britain. I think they know better, but make their choices based on how well it fits the story.

Rob, how much about this Roman era would the average English population have known? It was well known that the Earth is round for well over a millennia before Columbus but weren't there large segments of the mostly non literate public who did not know this?

Not the average population, but Æthelstan is a monk. He would already know it very, very well without needing King Ecbert to tell him.

Yes, but I thought he guardedly replied that he did know in response to the King's query about his monk edu.

Heads up! There's a blood moon lunar eclipse Tuesday AM. Any Nordic history buffs here up for a blood eagle celebration?
