Oh thanks God!
That makes me both happy and sad. It's been a fun run.
It's time ... actually a bit past it's time.
I liked it better when it bore some resemblance to the books. Once it took a complete departure from the books, it lost something. I think the writers aren't really sure where it should go since they're no longer working in a pre-written framework.
I have to agree. I really hate it when they create a universe then just throw it out. It's like there are no humans left. Twilight did the same thing. First they start with vampires and they just keep adding things to the point it lost its core.
In the case of Dexter, departing from the books worked out really well. The books went off the deep end and would have made for a terrible show.
With True Blood, I haven't read any of the books, so I cannot say which is better. But didn't the author of the Sookie books recently announce that she was ending the series?
The final book is already out. Unless she changes her mind for some reason, the series is done.
We only got a couple of episodes into this season, but the thing is just way off the rails for us. It was so much better in earlier seasons.
In the earlier seasons, they didn't stray as far from the books. I think they lost touch with what the show started out to be when they tried to go off on their own instead of sticking to the core stories from the books. Once they did that, I think they just didn't know what to do with it and lost focus. Now it just rambles in weird ways.
It would have been worse if they'd stuck to the books.
i will be glad to see it wrapped up, too, and kinda hoped this year would be the end.
i agree, there don't seem to be any interesting humans left in bon temps, and the zombie vampire apocalypse storyline just doesn't grab me as a storyline i want to watch the show explore in depth.
I've never read the books, and am a relatively late-comer to the show...but ya, it's getting a little over-the-top.
I think they should have remained truer to the books. The last couple of books were a bit mired in the muck. I didn't like how the series ended.
However, the show went off the rails before the books did.
Agree completely. Haven't read the last book yet, but the books did eventually lose focus. The tv series definitely derailed a lot sooner than the books did.
I'd watch a Pam and Lafayette Show spinoff.
It was a complete chore to get thru last season and I only made about 3 episodes this year. It was well time they pulled the plug. RIP True Blood. You were a great show a long time ago.
I am surprised Alan Ball allowed it to go on as long as it did. He ended Six Feet Under at the perfect time. He should have done the same with this show. This last season felt like a cartoon.
I liked this season.. didn't like last season.
Yeah, I think it's been uneven but not just a steady decline. Hopefully it will go out with a bang.
Er, on top.
This season was good. No season one, but it is hard to top that. Here is hoping it ends well.
