A big Thank you, Unitron!! Forgot i wrote in this thread.
Also...have another question. I also, have a Toshiba RS-TX20 DVD Recorder 120 GB TiVo Series2, with a bad hard drive.
Can i use the same image download of the toshiba sd-h400, for the Toshiba RS-TX20?
I do not know the answer to that question.
I would tend very much to doubt it, because the 400 only plays DVDs and doesn't burn them, so that part of the software, at least, wouldn't be present.
Also, the 400 has to use a particular remote, apparently, which hints at further incompatibility.
According to the remotes page at weaKnees, however, the 20 and the 60 can use the same remote as the Humax 400 and 800, so if you can get a Humax DVD burner image, maybe it might work with the 20.
And then again maybe it won't.
I also don't have any Humax images.
Hello, does anybody still have the WinMFS image for this model? My harddrive is out of service and I would like to make an image to repair. Appreciate all the help. I tried the link from Unitron but did not work. I am a novice and any help would be appreciated.
we have an image but would need your email.
Appreciate the help dz2K, but can't seem to PM anybody since I only had one message posted. Is there a good way to get the email to you?
DZ2K, post a private message with my email to you. Greatly appreciate the help!!!
Do you mean you tried unsuccessfully to download it, or that after successfully downloading you were unable to use the file?
If the latter rather than the former is the case, it might be because it's a compressed file, as indicated by the .zip file name extension, and has to be uncompressed to recover the original. In this case the original was actually 3 files, the kernel backup, the bootpage backup, and the entire drive truncated backup, which has a .tbk extension and is the file you need.
I've unzipped it in my DropBox public folder, and just the .tbk file is now available at
In addition to whatever work you do on the HD I would suggest vacuuming out the inside as well. My SD-H400 was refusing to boot and I fixed it by vacuuming out the dust inside which was apparently causing a short-circuit.
glad you got it working! ours booted but refused to show the tv show on live tv feature 98% of the time.
I would like to thank all of you who seem to be regulars that help us on here, the information is very help full.
