A new 10-episode series of TG US returns on Tuesday, January 29th on History.

With the new season of TG UK starting two days earlier, and BBCA's almost certain plan to show it in the US as soon as possible after the UK airing, I wonder how wise it is to allow a direct comparison of these two totally different experiences!

It will certainly show how inferior the American version is.

I cancelled my Season Pass for the US version. It wasn't getting better. Enough was enough.

I stopped watching the US version after the second show. It is just bad.

I quit watching it last season. Was that season 2 or 3?

Count me in as someone who bailed during the last season. There were plenty of comments after complaints about the initial season, that it took some time for the UK version to hit it's stride. I think I gave this one plenty of chance...there's no stride evident or coming. The only way I'd consider watching it now is if they announced a new cast.

I watch every now and again, if there's nothing else to watch. It isn't the same as the UK show, and isn't anywhere close to being as good. It isn't improving.

I think the worst part is that none of the cast have any decent on-air presentation skills. It's absolutely painful to watch them. I'd watch if they replaced the whole cast with some car guys with some significant on-air skills. I still say it would be epic if they could get Tim Allen, Christopher Titus, and Tim Allen Jay Leno to host. I think they would *easily* have enough on-air talent to hold this show together. Even if you can't get a "dream team" like that, they absolutely need to get guys who are as equally TV hosts as they are car guys.

However, I think they would also need to switch it back to a format that more closely approximates the UK version, including less long-format packages, more serious car stuff and less (shorter) screwball stuff, before I watched again. Bring on a US version of the Cool Wall, do the News, do actual car reviews, and some nice segments on US car history and stuff.

I'd be OK if they didn't do the "star in a reasonably priced car"/"big star, small car" ever again for the US version. Even if they were to get better hosts that could actually interview, it just doesn't fit nicely into the ~40 min. episode time constraints. Plus, the US track (and track location) is really quite boring to watch.

Oh - and move the show off History Channel already. It doesn't fit in there. Velocity needs to buy the rights, and pair it with Fifth Gear (UK).

How would it work with Tim Allen hosting twice? :p

He's enough host for two people. ;)

Seriously, though, I meant Jay Leno, Tim Allen, and Chris Titus. Corrected.

I'm not even a car person, but have been watching the U.S. show. Also, the U.K. shows are edited (after the first showing apparently?). I've seen some of the orig show (I forget if it was on netflix, or I watched some of the edited BBC america ones.. maybe both).

    Basically, they're both entertaining.
