Hit the GUIDE button. You can organize the data in that screen two different ways.
NEW can show in your recordings list. Yellow box with NEW in it at the end of a show title. Appears to be to be nearly random.
You can record these type of shows using wishlist instead of SP and in keyword area put in -three minute replay
wont record the 3 minute replay versions of these shows.
Now I see, and I have finally seen an actual reference to Grid Guide. I bought my first Tivo in 1998 and today may be the first time I ever clicked on the Guide button except by accident. Guess its a matter of personal preference, but I don't find the Guide to be of any use at all. I did however change the settings for the guide.
I may also be wrong about this, but don't remember ever having seen a yellow box with NEW in it in my "recordings list". Not sure if you meant the To Do list (shows to be recorded) or the Now Playing List (Shows already recorded) but I don't remember seeing it in either and there are none showing in either list right now on either Tivo.
I think I will stick with the season passes and just delete the 3 minute replays, but your keyword suggestion is going to be a big help with some of my existing Wishlist shows, such as the Taxi wishlist problem I mentioned earlier in this string. Thanks for that.
Hopefully I did this right. An example from the guide, but it looks the same in the NPL (or whatever its called these days).
Yep, the yellow box with the word "NEW" in it. It shows up in the Tivo TV Guide and in the listing of recorded shows.
I understand a lot is not tivo's fault and they deal with the tv channel information passed down to them. I do get upset with tv channel info being incomplete, but have no way to complain to them or feel it is of no use to anyway. Hate it when they list a show in their guide and broadcast another show in its place. This area I feel we will never have any input or have anything to do about it. I know nothing of how a tv network handles it's guide data. Therefor I cannot blame tivo, but I can come to understand the situation better.
And NEW only appears on a premiers, not anything before that and only in the HDGUI
I just tried to edit a wish list item I have for the Judd Hirsch show Taxi. It is set to record show called Wizards of Waverly Place because the episode is titled Taxi Dance.
I was going to add -waverly but I could not find any way to do this.
Also, can I add more than one -xxxxxxxxx?
You don't need to use the negative keywords for that. Put Judd Hirsch in the Actor list (or any actor who is on the whole series) and that will weed out any Taxi shows that don't have Judd Hirsch. That should get you only the show Taxi, presumably.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have just made things so much easier for me. After using Tivo since 1998, I always thought those wish list options were 'Just pick one' rather than 'choose one from column A and as many more as you want from the rest of the columns.
Now I will only get shows titled Taxi that include Judd Hirsch in the cast. I will now update several more of my wish list requests.
First you enter the keyword normally. Then you go back and edit the list of words. Highlight the word you don't want and hit the thumbs down button. It will add the minus sign in front.
Thank you also, you have also been of good help. Applying that minus sign is what I didn't know how to do and I will now be using your advice regularly.
