It did not ask for Username and Password?

Can you go to tivo.com, click on My Account and login, then there should be "DVR Preferences" and there would be checkboxes on each Tivo you have on your account for TRANSFERS and DOWNLOADS, check those.

Have your Tivo(s) make a Tivo connection. It will then get a Media Access Key, which you must use to transfer shows. It is set in Tivo Desktop.

Also check the Configuration tab in the TiVo Server Properties dialog. If you have multiple network adapters it may have chosen the wrong one.

Are there any 3rd-party firewalls on your PC?

MSE antivirus won't affect Desktop, but I have seen the Windows Firewall exceptions screw up on Windows 7. Depending on the network adapter classification (Domain, Home or Public) you may need to tweak the firewall exceptions (Domain, Public or Private). I just set everything with Bonjour or TiVo in the name to All.

Yes, I did make sure that both the boxes were checked.

Yes, I did get the Username and Password screen. After I entered them I got the network error screen (HTTP 403 Forbidden).

Success! Trouble is I don't know which of the network settings I changed caused it to work. But on my third install of Tivo Desktop I have a connection and transfers taking place.

I am wondering if it was just that it took Tivo this long to update my account to allow transfers and such???

BTW I am already loving this software. My wife will be hogging the TV directly connected to the Tivo. But now I can transfer my recordings to my computer which is connected to a 42" monitor and watch them without causing problems with my spouse! Cool beans........

Well, it is unclear when you updated your information on the website, though my recollection is that it can take a while for it to filter through to the unit.

Question: I set up an automatic transfer for a couple of the shows I will be recording. Obviously the computer has to be on for the transfer to occur. Will a pending transfer from the Tivo wait until the computer is on/online? I don't usually leave the computer on all day/night.......

It's possible. TiVo says it can take up to 24 hours to update your settings.
On top of that, the other day TiVo's servers went down for a few hours. That could have delayed things even further.
Yes. When the computer fully boots and you log in to Windows, the Tivo Server should pull any new recordings pending in the auto transfer list.
Just make sure you have the Tivo Server set to start automatically when you log on to Windows.

So now I have the Tivo Desktop working on my PC and the Tivo App working on my Android tablet. However we are heading north in 10 days and I am undecided as to if I want to leave the Tivo Premiere running (and leave my cable modem/wireless router) on or not. While I know I can service my recordings through my home network, will I be able to record shows or delete recorded shows over the internet?

Why turn it off? Miniscule savings? Missing recordings?

Going away is a great reason to have the TIVO ON. It will all be waiting for you when you get back.

From the Tivo website you can record remotely, but not delete.

You can delete remotely, too, if it is a Premiere or a modified S1, S2, or S3.

OK, I have a Premiere. Which software will allow that? Or do I do it through Tivo.com??

I'm pretty sure that autotransfer works the same as manual transfer in that the TiVo Desktop program tells the TiVo to start the transfer, and not the other way around, so I suspect that when the computer is started again, and Desktop, or at least the server portion of it, is started again, it'll notice that it's supposed to check with the TiVo to see if there are any new episodes of "insertshownamehere" to be autotransferred, and if there are, it'll tell the TiVo to start transferring.
