Running Mac OS 10.7.4 on my iMac, and using TiVo HD. I installed the TiVo Desktop version for Mac OS 10.6+ today and enabled sharing of a folder of photos on my Mac. My Mac shows up in the Music and Photos menu, but when I tried to connect, I got a "temporary problem" accessing the server. After clicking the Mac dialog to allow incoming network connections to the TiVo Desktop application, the problem persisted.

The Mac TiVo Desktop troubleshooting page on tivo.com names the programs that need to have incoming connections enabled. One of them is TiVoDesktop, which is enabled. The other one is TiVoDesktop.prefPane. However, when I navigate to TiVoDesktop.prefPane in the Security & Privacy>Firewall dialog, the name is grayed out so I cannot Add it to the firewall exceptions.

Turning off the firewall on the Mac solves the problem, so I can view the photos on my Mac. Trouble is, a person can't go around naked like that all the time. Anybody found out a way to open up the Mac firewall settings in 10.7.4 to allow TiVo Desktop to work?

Since you have found the firewall is the source of the problem, there is a simple fix. There are ports you can open/allow for the Tivo to gain access.

    TCP ports: 37, 80, 443, 1413, 2190, 4430, 5005, 5222, 5223, 7287-7297, 7288, 8000, 8080-8089, 8200, 5254, 5354, 8101-8102, 8181, 8200, 31339

    UDP ports: 37, 123, 2190, 5353

I know its alot, but that's what works.
