Tex? He's not a marine but a private contractor (I think).

The fact that they're going this way instead of the expected hookup with the captain is one thing that keeps this show interesting.

Well, the captain is A) married and B) honorable, so he's pretty much off limits.

I thought he was special ops. I didn't think they had contractors at Gitmo.

I vaguely remember him saying that they were contractors in that first Gitmo episode, too, which is why they let the people go. They weren't military, they were just hired to watch the people.

Well, yeah, I can see that in this particular situation, I guess. But, I presume he was in special forces or something previously.

I thought he said that they let them go because of the breakdown in the world order (ok, he didn't use those words.)

Having said that, I also seem to remember him as a contractor.

How does a program arrange for the use of a US naval ship? I know they can recreate the inside of the ship on a sound stage but what about all the outside shots showing the ship?

I read that for the pilot they spent three weeks filming in and around the ship. WHich was much, much longer than the people spent filming on the ship in the Battleship movie.

Exellent use of Dire Straits' "Ride Across the River" in this episode. I hadn't heard that song in ages.

Well, usually you have to go through the DOD to set up rentals. They do it all the time, if the message of the movie doesn't portray the armed forces in a bad light. But, Michael Bay has used so much military hardware in the past, he probably gets a discount.

I wanna know more about these flares that seem to be visible over a greater distance than radios can operate...
