I just noticed on my TiVo that The Following Season 2 is premiering on Sunday the 19th at 10:30 with a 90 minute episode called Resurrection.

It returns to its regular Monday night slot on the 27th at 9 pm, but they are re-running the first episode at 8 and there - it's only 60 minutes.

Surely this can't be an additional 30 minutes of commercials on the 18th. Can it?
Or is this just a Sunday Night football thing?

My question is, why are they doing a season 2?

    :p

    The ratings warranted it.

I hated this TV show, where the FBI where - apparently - the most incompetent bunch in the world.

My guess is, neither - most likely, there will be an extra 20 minutes or so of the show (plus 10 minutes of commercials) that will not appear in the repeat.

My #2 guess is that the show will start "sometime between 8:00 and 8:30" (last week, a game ended at about 7:45, but the postgame show ran until about 8:10 for some reason), so they list it as 8:00-9:30 so DVRs will record the whole thing; the only problem is, I don't think the affiliates are going to like having to cover an empty spot between when the show ends and 9:30.

    John's...
It's not just "a Sunday Night Football thing". It's a Sunday Night playoff football thing. A playoff game can theoretically run forever.

I'm really not sure I can make it through another season. It's a terrible show yet I looked forward to it every week.

Be aware, this doesn't start at 10:30, it starts when the half-hour show, The OT, which starts after the game ends, is over. A time which may or may not co-incide with 10:30

Or maybe if the game runs long enough, The OT will get dumped. Or if it's live, maybe they'll do a shortened version.

So the only way to be sure is to ride herd on the TV tonight.

Yeah, I've never seen that done before and it caught me offguard as I was waiting to see when The OT would start and if they'd say anything about it being a shortened version.

About 18 minutes late on the West Coast.

Was it scheduled to start at 7:00PM PST out there?

Did it start as soon as the football game was over, or did the half-hour post-game show, The OT, run in between them?

And is it already over out there?

In other words, did it just run an hour instead of 90 minutes?

'Cause here on the east coast, the game was scheduled to end at 10PM EST, the next show, The OT, was scheduled to end at 10:30PM and The Following was scheduled to start at 10:30PM and run until 12:00AM.

But it started at 10:18PM and ended at 11:18PM.

There was only 45 minutes of show on my 1:30 recording. So I'd say 45 minutes missed.

If you recorded and padded the football games or OT, check that. There's a weird issue with back to back recordings in the most recent update.

I ended up watching on Hulu. I had no way of knowing how much of the beginning I actually missed. FOX blows.

I didn't. I had no idea football was related to cults of serial killers.

I tend not to read episode threads until after the episode airs, so I skipped the thread here.

Can anyone who saw the whole thing verify how long it was? Was it really 1:30 or 1:00 ? I'm still trying to figure out how much was missed and whether it's worth rewatching.

Thanks, just finished watching the missing 15 minutes on OnDemand. A whole lot better continuity now. ;)

Interesting decision by FOX. Do you air the show when you said you were going to, or do you start airing it as soon after the football game as possible, to theoretically capture more football eyeballs that would tune away if FOX does 15 minutes of postgame coverage before starting The Following.

I'm guessing they decided that anyone who was planning to watch at 10:30 and missed the beginning would be able to find a way to see the episode, and pissing those people off is a small price to pay for the extra eyeballs they'd be able to bring to the episode by starting it right after the game, which presumably had huge viewership.
