Gave up on D&D because I am unable to find a welcoming group. I guess the kids cannot get over the fact that I am a woman in my 60's.
The thing with Amy and Sheldon was a start. Verbal fantasy sex. Sheldon is in his comfort zone with dice and imaginary characters.

Amy should get him a set of these dice for the next adventure. :)

Haven't played D&D in many years. Many, many. I always enjoyed it and I played with a group of 6 - male and female - for about 3 years. Then life moved us away from each other and I never found another combination of friends to start over with.

If Amy is looking for a good time, she should say 'Let's play doctor', as she had a great time with Sheldon nursing her back to health with chest rubs, baths, and spanking if she doesn't behave. 'What more could any woman want??!!'
And Sheldon loves it when Amy dresses up in a Star Trek uniform and scans him with the Tricorder. If they want to liven it up a little bit they could have a three-some with Leonards' old girl-friend MD. Or at least Sheldon would enjoy that.

Yes, back in the day, women would sometimes go to a doctor to cure them of their "hysterical feelings." The doctor would treat them with a vibrator. Maybe Amy could go that route.

I think Amy is all set in that regard. I seem to remember an episode with some implications about an electric toothbrush.

    Hehehehehehehe

I was lucky as a teenager that I had geeky friends that didn't care if a girl wanted to play. I also played Marvel Super Heros (D&D in a comic book universe). I've been playing since I was about 12, so much closer to 35 years than 30 at this point.

#2 son is the only one who ever got into D&D, sadly. But hubby & #1 son will play Munchkin with me & #2 son.

#3 son is just a stick in the mud. :)

There was recently a movie on that subject. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy, as the doc. Pretty good. It was called 'Hysteria'.

I saw it on either HBO or Showtime.

Well, I was thinking Sheldon would be her doctor in this case. :p;)

Hysteria is a humorous account of the invention of the vibrator, the idea of which was to relieve the poor doctor of the tiresome task of doing his work manually.

It's a good double feature with The Road to Wellville

But wouldn't he get hung up on the fact that he's not that kind of doctor? ;)

I was hoping when she told him Howard was talking about sex he would say I'll work the bottom.

Vibrators and their use as this weeks BBT off topic, never would have seen that coming.

One of the lamer episodes in a while.

    I did chuckle at

Sheldon: “I’ve never played D&D with girls before.”
    Penny: “Neither has anyone else.”

and while 4 women will certainly complain how untrue this is, it's pretty true. Probably a 95-5% ratio men to women playing if not more lopsided.

The Sheldon-Amy and Raj-whatshername story lines both missed the mark for me.

I guess they can't all be winners.

I think the avatar I use for this forum is me at about 55. Just made up by a free make up demonstration.
I was never able to find as good of D&D group as the first one I was in. Played a while in another area with a DM who was a year older than me but when I moved to another town, could not find a group. Also what is going on nowadays, is more online gaming not inperson gaming.

Not every woman in this thread has outright said they play or played D&D.

In the groups I've played in, the gender mix was about 50/50. However, after college, I found that most people of both genders were unable to play because of the logistical difficulty in finding time for a half dozen or so people to regularly get together for a few hours.
