Oh yeah? Well the jerk store called, and they're out of you!!!
I think a case could be made for Walter White (Breaking Bad).
Not that I watched, but wasn't Becker intended to be a jerk?
Since this is mostly about fictional characters, I like the vote for Eric Cartman. For real people ? I LOLed at Kyle Busch.
I liked Dr Cox. I suppose he DOES qualify as a total jerk, but he was actually one jerk I liked.
John Becker was another one - total dick, but I kinda liked him.
Yes, he was and a funny one.
Major Frank Burns
After just watching Mad Men...
Morton Downey. Jr.
king joffrey.as he grows so will his*****.
Arlo Given may be half senile but he's also a jerk.
Yes I can't stand her. What a nasty person.
Archie Bunker <-> Mike Stivic were complementary jerks.
Fred Sanford is another good candidate.
But the winner, IMHO, would be Basil Fawlty. Yes, he was a British sitcom character, but QUITE the JERK!
Jon on Delocated is a pretty big jerk. Bone Zone!!
The original LiS pilot didn't have Doctor Smith (the ship was knocked off course by an asteroid field, I think). The episode you describe was the first aired episode, but the robot wasn't programmed to steer the ship off course; it was programmed to destroy the life support system eight hours into the flight.
"The version I heard was," Dr. Smith was only supposed to be on for something like eight episodes, which is why Jonathan Harris always got a "Special Guest Star" credit, but somebody at CBS realized that the only reason people were watching the show was because of the interaction between Dr. Smith and the robot.
