The way they look at "Premier Service" and "HD DVR Service" packages is that at least 1 box is required to access those channels / features.

I think HD DVR Service its included because you can't have the "HD DVR Service" without them providing an associated DVR box. For example, my statement doesn't show a monthly rental free for the DVR set-top.

Now looking at the online slider, it is kind of confusing, you'd think Premier would include the set-top box since you can't access all the channels without it (or a cablecard).

If you have issues with the Tuning Adapter after you turn on MoCA, try putting a POE Filter on the TA.

I was doing some testing the other night for a friend, and I decided to switch one of my Minis to use MoCA and bridge the Ethernet on the Roamio.

I split the incoming Coax to the TA and Roamio Pro (I usually use the RF pass-through which will not pass MoCA)
    Turned on Ethernet + MoCA
Connected the Mini to the Coax only and changed the Network configuration to use MoCA.

The Tuning Adapter immediately started failing the tuning requests of SDV channels. The channels would briefly display but immediately I was presented with the Select to View this channel message, which did not bring the channel back.

The Cox Cisco TA install sheet shows using a MoCA POE filter before the TA, I never understood why. I assume the excess noise caused by the MoCA was causing the TA to fail.

After placing the POE filter on the TA, the TA started working again as normal.

    Cox Cable...
I'm happy that you got the opportunity to see this happen, for yourself. Now, we can split the workload of bringing this up with every new-to-MoCA member that is looking for advice. ;)

They never seem to stop coming, and many are new members, starting new threads, rather than using what exists, so it can be a bit exhausting.

PoE = Poltergeist of Entry, when it comes to Cisco TAs. Best to filter them out, by bouncing them back where they belong.

I tried to chat with them and never could get it to work, so sent them an e-mail. The rep said the standard package price doesn't include the cost of hardware, so you are paying $8 per box with the standard package or the premier package, but it is possible with the non-DVR standard package to just use digital adapters.

What a convoluted mess the TV industry is now.

i am on BH in central FL and have Roamio Pro with 2 Mini's setup and working over Moca.

i bought a Motorola SBG-6782 wireless router with built in Moca and use that with BH. it is an approved BH router and has dual band 2.4/5.0 ac wireless. works great.

took some time to get everything working because networking is not my favorite thing.... splitter here or there, cable card, tuning adapter. several phone calls to BH tech support but after all that, my network has been bulletproof. i love the Motorola router, highly recommend the $ 200.00 investment.

I have had so many issues with this order it is unreal. I'm finally down to just a problematic cable card. I didn't notice during install, but the tech actually put a cable card in my tivo that had a sticky note saying "won't download". At least pull the the note off before sticking me with a bad card. Ha!

Going to try to get a mini working this evening. Thanks for all the helpful posts guys. I do try to research before asking, but it is a lot of info to digest.

I'm impressed with the mini performance other than the remote. I'll put my slider on the roamio and the roamio remote on the mini. Had to go down to the local brighthouse to get a new cable card after a no-show by the tech.. Still not getting BBCA. Seems fine otherwise. I can't imagine your average non-technical person going through all this without giving up and getting the Klingon user interface Brighthouse DVR.

They didn't provision any of my premier channels. Another hour on the phone and that is solved. Loving the Roamio and Mini and 100 down 10 up. Picture quality blows vs DTV, but I'm saving ~$100 per month so I'm going to accept it. Next up getting PyTivo working.....

Any idea why Tivo doesn't let you bridge Moca to wireless? I've got a $200 Netgear Nighthawk in bridge mode because the Roamio won't bridge wireless to Moca. Give me a warning that it is probably gonna suck, but at least give me the option. It is working great so far.

I seem to recall from long ago they were a pain to get going, but worked great once you got through the initial hassle. I was ready to go into my neighbor's yard and cut down a tree so I could switch back to DTV by the end of this ordeal.

Looked at Genie / Minis over the weekend. It looks nice, but sure gets expensive quick. I asked about buying my own equipment; the sales rep was quick to tell me that I'm not renting equipment. I'm sure this line works for some people, but I'm not buying it with the advanced receiver and per TV fee.

Even after all the BS, I'd be happy if the picture quality was close to DTV. It really isn't even close, but for what I'm saving, I'll be content for now. Think my neighbor is about to move and when I know for sure, that tree is coming down.

After noticing the channels that look really bad are the ones that require the tuning adapter, I found a few posts suggesting too strong of a signal may cause it. My SNR is at 41, so going to cross my fingers and hope Skycraft in Winter Park sells attenuators. Radio Shack no longer does.

I've not seen PQ problems, but maybe I have a less discerning eye. Are you seeing artifacts / pixelization or just lossy video due to compression? If you have samples, I can compare with what I'm getting over here in the UCF area.

It seems more than just compression to me. The picture just really looks like crap. Skycraft does sell attenuators, so going to pick some up tomorrow. I found a few posts suggesting Tivo doesn't like SNR greater than 35.

Tonight my SNR is between 36-40 depending on the tuner number (PQ seems fine). I figure you must really be seeing something terrible. What channel # would you say is most obvious / the worst?

Still haven't picked up the attenuators and not watching a lot of TV the last few days, but very noticeable on BBCA. I guess it really is pixelation. Any motion and the screen just turns to blocky video. Never had this issue with DTV and don't have it on the non-tuning adapter channels. Kinda wondering how I'm going to do the attenuators without affecting MOCA.

Between cablecards and tuning adapters Tivo is just screwed for the average Joe, cause they just aren't going to go through this hassle.

Figured it out. Didn't realize the Tivo wouldn't automap to the HD version of the channel. Much better picture now.
