Has anyone had issues with Tivo suggestions recording hardcore porn? We have a Tivo Premiere, don't have any premium channels like HBO or Cinemax, and watch mostly network dramas, sitcoms, and my wife watches the Real Housewives stuff.

Since the newest update, we find it will switch itself to the hardcore porn channels and starts recording them. I think its hilarious at the titles it posts, but my wife, not so much.

I'm at a loss as to what would make it record those suggestions - we have a season pass for SVU, but that seems completely out of line to record porn.

We don't even record movies on TNT or TBS, so I don't have a clue what it could be thinking. I am a Howard Stern fan, but I don't have, nor can I get Howard Stern channel. Is it reading my mind about thing I think are funny?

Tell me others have seen this!

Did you remove the ppv porn channels from your lineup? I saw one instance initially where a legitimate SEARCH returned a ppv porn title (though did not records as a suggestion).

Removing all those channels, as well as spanish language channels seems to have stopped the unwanted search responses

Check your thumbs. Could someone have pranked you? Or, if you record one yourself it will automatically give a thumbs up.

Also, you can deselect those channels and then suggestions will not pick them up.

Could it be your wife?? All it takes is one recording or a thumbs up and it can record some weird stuff.

As I'm finding out. I recently enabled suggesstions on my Elites. I haven't typically used it in the past .

LMAO - I would have preferred that over what my new Premieres were recording, as suggestions. I was getting a TON of kiddie shows. No kids - don't like kiddie shows. Clearly, Tivo didn't know me at all after almost eight years. I know...I know - new boxes, new 'getting to know you' period but I found it weird that the new Tivos would automatically think I like little kid shows.

I quickly deleted all that drivel and changed the setting so that it would no longer automatically record suggestions. I don't see any redeeming qualities, at all, to having the Tivos automatically record ANYTHING unless I have set up an SP.

FWIW, I'll post this here, but apologies if it gets its own thread as well.

Tonight my TiVo started recording a suggestion on each tuner using SD channels that I have unchecked in the Channels menu

Anyone else having issues like this? I just received the new Spring 2012 firmware, so I assume it rebooted to isntall that; maybe I'll reboot again...

A new TiVo will record suggestions a little randomly, but did you rate any of the suggestions? Once you've reviewed a few and have set up some SPs and requested shows the suggestions engine is actually pretty good at finding programming you actually like.

Plus, it's not like it will ever delete anything you've recorded on purpose to make room for a suggestion.

Wait, is the OP getting free porn? Didn't you ever see the Friends episode where Joey and Chandler got the free porn? They refused to change the channel in fear they would lose it.

In seriousness, did you watch a first few seconds of any of them? I know a few months back TiVos serivce provider for the thumbnails in the discovery bar had some issues, and I had a suggestion for what appeared to be an adult show, but in reality was Cheers (or some similar sitcom that I would also enjoy). Might be worth looking into, unless you are afraid of what you will find. Is this a new(er) box?

As others said, if you don't rate the programs, then suggestions really can be junk. If you turn off suggestions instead of just rating them, then you are crippling one of the best features of the TiVo, and something no other DVR has. I can't tell you how many new programs I have discovered due to suggestions. Suggestions do not really use up disk space, because they never overwrite something you requested to be recorded.

My only problem with the suggestions system is there is no way to tell the TiVo you like something, but don't want any more. For example, I love Star Trek, but I don't want/need it to record any, anymore. When lots of channels syndicate the stuff across many years of five series and a dozen movies, there is frequently another one recorded. Lord help me when a channel or two are having Star Trek marathons :) Not a big deal, though.
