    When Sitcoms Collide!

The episode opens with Tessa and Ryan at the lunch table. Ryan has just told her that he has to eat 30 grams of animal protein at every meal.

Ryan is chowing down on a big ass drumstick, and his plate is loaded with meat.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

This has sent my physicist husband off onto a Sheldon-like riff about how much 30 grams of protein would actually be, demonstrating how many quarters it would take up to make a mass that was 30 grams.

the quarter is 5.670 g, according to The US Mint

And mocking me because I had forgotten how many grams a quarter weighs.

    Thank goodness for TiVo. ;)

Chicken thigh and drumstick have about 10g of protein.

I thought this was a poor episode. Not very funny, and close to making me give up on this show. The good episodes are funny, but ones like this are just stinkers.

The entire Tessa/Ryan story line is crap. Her dating him is against everything she stands for. They've built her character to be one thing, and dating Ryan ain't it.

The cartoony aspects of this show have gone from entertaining to distracting. Dahlia is still funny, but Dallas is too over the top.

One or two more like this and I'm out.

Dahlia's version of the "I have a dream" speech -- funny, or offensive?

Yep. The second season has just been awful compared to the first. They have lost their way with their characters and don't even make sense in their behavior after the first season.

Not the best episode, but come on, it wasn't enough to threaten quitting the show. Dahlia has really grown on me. Used to find her annoying, now I look forward to her scenes.

What happened to the Lowes ads with Sheila Shay? Those were great!

I agree with you that the Tessa/Ryan storyline is/was crap. The whole thing with the show and all was just not funny.

Even though Dallas grates on my nerves lately, I enjoyed the 'Dallas is now a lower life form' storyline with the property thing.

LOVED the Dalia deal with the new school and the 'I have a Dream' thing. Funny how she skeeved me out big time when the series started and now she is the biggest thing I look forward to on the show.

Except for Ryan I like the neighbors across the street.

I wouldn't put this one in the awful category, but it wasn't a high point. Dalia's bit about not being tan enough was well done, and Dallas' visit to the East Chatswin YMCA was pretty good.

And even if it's fairly ridiculous, I've been enjoying seeing more Ryan Shay with Tessa. He makes her less preachy.

I love the show but boy, not that episode. I don't think I cracked a smile once. I'm nowhere near giving up on it, though.

Well, my 9-year old had a homework this weekend about the speech and MLK Jr. in general. The jokes sailed right by her until I paused and talked to her about it. She thought it was clever and really enjoyed the subtle humor.

It was great to have to explain a deeper joke and have her relate and totally get it.

It just hasn't crossed my mind. I'll have to think about it the next time I watch an episode.
