Strange: Channels display but card not Validated!?!?!

    Hi all, I'm new to these forums so I'm hoping someone with expertise can give me a solution....

    I bought a Tivo Prem HD off ebay with lifetime sub. Units looks fine (virtually mint), came with everything and had obviously been cared for.

    I got a new card from TWC socal. Went through setup, called tech, card would not pair, and I was getting the dreaded Acquiring Channel Data 75% hang.

    I went through everything I could with tech support on the phone, card wouldn't pair.

    Waited 10 days for a truck roll for a M card specialist and he tried 5 cards. Only two of them would pair but none would validate. These cards were from at least 2 batches and one of them he had working earlier in the day at another call.

    After nearly two hours, the engineer and the tech he was on the phone to decided to give up as they'd exhausted all options.

    As he's packing up, bang! We suddenly get channels, and no more hang on the aquiring channel data

    Here's where it get's really strange:

    The card is not validated - I have ?x083 next to the V:

    They told me that's not possible; no validation, no channels.

    ....but one problem remains: the guide is wrong for about 40% of the channels which completely negates the main function of the Tivo.

    Can anyone think of other possible solutions? I am using this with a TA, but I've also tried going direct and it didn't make a difference.

    If the guide is that wrong, you probably need to re-run Guided Setup and look for another channel line-up for your area.

    TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Help > Restart or Reset System > Repeat Guided Setup

    Thanks for the suggestion but I've already done it half a dozen times to no avail :mad:

    It also wouldn't explain the ? next to the validation, or the fact that I'm able to get channels without the card validating.

    It's truly weird. Tivo say it's a card problem and TWC are saying it can't be the card as so many have already been tried, and the previous owner of the the box states it worked flawlessly on Comcast.
