The new THR22 HD DirecTivo has essentially the same features as the old DirecTivos. They just are able to receive/record the HD channels. They do not have the Tivo Premier features. That said, if you were happy with the old DirecTivo interface and features, you'll be happy with the new THR22. Otherwise you should consider the new DirecTV DVRs, like the HR34 "Genie" HD DVR with 5 tuners.

My problem is that I really like the Tivo interface, but I'd like to get HD and also get the current Tivo capabilities. I'm trying to decide whether to change from DirecTV to Comcast.

    (Sorry for the threadjack.)

I'd like 4 tuners, streaming apps, and the ability to download content to my PC. And isn't there an iPad app?

The DirecTV HR34 gives you five tuners and the ability to stream within the house, but no download. There is an iPad app for the HRxx boxes (not for the THR22).

But if you want all of that plus streaming from other providers, you'll have to do it outside of DirecTV.

Note that you can download your recordings to your PC or mobile device using DirecTV's Nomad. This little box connects to your home network and "transcodes" the DVRs' recordings so they can be transferred to your PC or mobile device and be viewable on those devices for 30 days.

    But not from the THR22.

    Therein lies the problem.
