I starting having a problem with my TiVo HD this week where the guide and channel changing runs very slow at time to it just hangs and I have to pull the plug and reboot it. I opened it up and don't seem to have the capacitor problem and I am not sure if a drive would cause my problem. Any help would be great.

Which model TIVO? I have Three TCD652160's that I had upgraded to 1 TB each. Did you upgrade? I had one Tivo that did about what yours is doing. I took the 1TB drive out and put the original drive in. It took a long time for the old drive to update software and current guide data, but it worked great for two weeks. That told me it was the drive.

I have the TCD652160 and it has the drive that came with it no upgrade. I do have a external drive that was sold by Tivo on it.

Well, it "could" be an issue with the external drive, but I have never had an external drive. I am sure someone else can respond here.

Watch for the hard drive going bad. When I've had pc hard drives go back, the pc would act sluggish and freeze at times when accessing the hard drive. That was a symptoms being exhibited by a the drive going bad.

I attached an external 1Tb drive a couple of months ago to my good old S3, and for the last two weeks or so, my performance has been steadily getting worse.
It is now to the point where once I go to the Now Playing list, it will take up 20 seconds or more to generate the list. I disconnected the network for a couple of days so the GC could complete, and that helped for two days, but then it was back to slow performance.

    Any advice?
