I have a client that wants to have both Comcast and DirecTV. We are recommending the TiVo boxes for Comcast, but are also considering the new TiVo branded DirecTV boxes. I am reaching for the clouds here, but is it possible to share content between the 2 different brands of TiVo's?

    Thx,

    C

No, it is not. In fact, the new DirecTV TiVo has no sharing capability at all.

OK, not so good. What about the TiVo Desktop, does that work at all on the DirecTiVo?

Only for the purpose of playing music and photos. None of the other features.

How important is the sharing? How would it be used? You and your client might be interested in the DirecTV HR34, a non-TiVo multiple-tuner DVR that can stream programming around the house with a small box that goes by the TV.
