To purchase a Roamio Plus and a couple of Mini's. Have questions in regards to hookup, local cable co., and your experiences.

    The Hookup:
Will use the cable in house as the hard wire hookup between the Roamio and Minis. An internet connection is not available at each TV location.

When reading Roamio reviews on amazon I noticed people frequently purchased a MoCA "POE" Filter when also connecting mini's. It seems as if the Mini's work better when a filter is connected. However, less clear was where and how to hookup the filter. Can you help?

    Charter Communications in upper MI:
Has Charter provided the proper cablecard to work with Roamio? If so, can I pick it up or do they require an appointment for them to come and install it themselves?

    Your Experience:
In your experiences of the hookup what else should I have, be prepared for, or do when hooking up TIVO?

Thank you in advance for your help.

"POE" stands for point of entry, so you want to install the POE filter where your main cable feed enters your home, before all the splitters, taps, yada yada yada. This is to prevent your moca signal from leaking out of your coax system and into the neighborhood.

I don't have a mini, so I can't help you there. I know Charter doesn't have the POE filter in the DFW area (though the tech said TWC does) so I don't have one of those installed.

The firmware for the CC is hit or miss in this area, you might have to go through a few cards before you get one with the correct firmware.

As to what else... Just get ready to sit back and enjoy! It's so much better than a regular cable box. Oh, allow an hour or so for the setup, it does take a while.
