MASH was also on the air when there were three networks, not much real original content on cable, and no real public internet access. It was much much easier to find TV shows back then because there was far less to choose from.

I think the show creators usually get the final say on the show titles.

Bad titles can kil TV shows.

I only watched Bunheads because I read about it here. Otherwise I would have assumed it was a show about baking and ignored it. I never heard that ballet term before. Even if I had, I don't think I would have checked out a show about ballet.

I missed the original run of Firefly because the title did not suggest anything about science fiction.

I only watched Doll House because I read about it here. The title did not suggest anything worth watching.

I would not have watched Angel if I was not aware it was a spinoff of Buffy TVS.

Agree. I didn't watch Roots because I'm not a gardener, The Wire because I'm not interested in home improvement projects, the Sopranos because I'm not a music buff...

If one can only be enticed to watch a show by how explanatory the title is, little would get watched. NTTAWWT.

Yeah - I don't get the issue with the title, either.

There a a lot of titles that escape me, but they are great shows. I had no idea what "Breaking Bad" meant, for example.

I don't think a title will make or break a show - good buzz, good reviews, good advertising, good luck, etc are all part of it.

I enjoyed Bunheads. Was it great? No. It wasn't anywhere NEAR the level of Gilmore Girls (which was AWESOME the first 5 seasons before the creators left the show). But the title had nothing to do with my interest level or the quality of the show...

Amy Sherman-Palladino got most of the Bunheads to come back for one last lovely performance. Check out the video at either Buzzfeed or TVLine.

That's lovely. I'm sorry I never watched this show. I think I would have liked it.

It was fine but it wasn't fresh and original like GGs. Just felt like a Chinese imitation version.

To me ASP has a very specific way or writing dialogue. When I go back and watch episodes of Roseanne and can usually tell one she wrote. A lot of those traits went with her to GG's and Bunheads and will probably be in her next show. It is the same with her husband I could always tell an episode of GG's or Bunheads he wrote.

Never watched Glilmore Girls so I have no opinion. This is probably the only show I have watched written by them. I watched it because I was interested in the subject matter.
