The Hard Drive on my Roamio began making a clicking sound a few weeks ago. I didn't think much of it at the time. Recently, the picture on the Roamio has become unwatchable. Heavily pixelated. I swapped out the Roamio with the old Series 3, and the picture is fine. I've also called FIOS, and they insist the signal strength is not a problem.

I bought the Roamio back in December. I'm hoping the device is still under warranty.

Anyone else had issues with Roamio hard drives?

A hard drive is a hard drive. Either pursue warranty replacement or just drop a new one in yourself.

I'm hoping the device is still under standard warranty. I bought it in mid-December, so it hasn't been 90 days yet.

Another oddity I found is that I can still use old Series 3 Tivo, even though it has only 1 cable card installed. I thought the Series 3s required 2 cards. So, my plan is to send the faulty Roamio back to Tivo, and deal with the 1-tuner Series 3 for a few weeks.

If it's an S3 OLED then it does need 2 CableCards for 2 tuners. If it's an S3 HD, then it just needs 1 CableCard (M) for 2 tuners.

Hard drive's can be had reasonably enough, this can be a great excuse to drop in a 3 or 4TB HDD.

Do they have a DIY 4TB upgrade already? The last I heard it was still limited to 3TB for the Roamio unless you paid a high sum for a pre-configured 4TB drive from Weaknees.
