Do you think a newer drive might make it faster as it is the original drive in there and the drives are faster now then when this unit was built?

Thinking about attempting it myself and putting in a 500 gig drive. I do have over 18 years experience in computers, repairing and building them, so I should be ok.

Doubtful... It's really the other hardware that's less powerful than other TiVo models, not the drive.

Yeah, I think the performance of my TX20 actually suffered when I upgraded the drive (more capacity = more recordings = larger database = slow performance).

Has anyone had this problem? The phone line is live but the Tivo unit doesn't recognize it.

Yes, these units are up to software version 9.3.2a now (possibly their last).

Hi, first time post. I have a RS-TX20. Had it for years. Every once in a while, I accidently select a channel that I don't have service. When I change back to a channel that I do have service the info banner at the top of the screen for the previous channel stays on. I used to restart the system and the info would go away. Now, even after restart, it will not go away! anyone else have this issue? How is it fixed?

Are you sure you have an RS-TX20? These units came out far later, and I think they may have started on 7.x.

I'm guessing you have a Series1 unit. If so, 3.2 is all you'll get.

What three digits does your TSN start with?

I just added a TIVO HD DVR to my RS-TX20 and both of them have wireless network adapters that connect to my home network and Internet. I am currently paying $12.95/month for the RS-TX20 and $9.95 for the TIVO HD. If I cancel the subscription on the RS-TX20 will I be able transfer recorded shows from my TIVO HD to the RS-TX20 over the network? Thanks

No, MRV is a TiVo Plus feature.
