So I was super excited when browsing the guide to see a little "new" icon next to tonight's (7/8) episode of Walking Dead!

Then digging deeper, that episode description sounded damn familiar. What gives?

After digging deeper still, it appears AMC is showing Season 1 Episode 1 again tonight in BLACK & WHITE and somehow that ends up getting flagged as a NEW episode first aired 7/8/12.

Boo for getting me hopes up like that!

Have you checked to see whether or not it is on your "To Do" list?

Are series 2's supposed to have new icon? My DT's don't have to switch to cable dvr to find new shows.

My boxes did not pick up the B&W episode as new. I was looking for it in the schedule last week and had to manually set it to record.

It was pretty impressive how much the black and white upped the whole Zombie feel. I only watched the first 10 minutes but it gave me goosebumps.

Same here....B&W, so what? With so much blood and gore, not having color ruins it.

I think it really depends on how much of a fan you are of classic zombie movies like Night of the Living Dead. Since that was what they [AMC/Executive Producers] were paying homage to.

A good movie in black and white trumps a mediocre movie in color any day. Too many movies these days rely on too much gore and special effects rather than using effective lighting techniques, quality scripts and good acting and directing. Older movies made you rely on your imagination to fill in the blanks rather than just explicitly showing you the horror. When you see it on a regular basis you become desensitized to it, which ruins the effect. It just becomes another boring schlock fest.

Any good movie trumps a mediocre movie regardless of color or b&w. Whether a movie is color or b&w is just one detail out of many, both technical and artistic, that can make or break a movie as you've indicated.

    You're confusing "you" and "I".

Now, I'll happily get off your lawn. :D

    Agreed.

Tivo and any DVR only picks up the cues it gets and runs with them.
