From the thread title, I thought this was a home-improvement show!

I love this show more every episode.

    The Rudy moment was great!

I see more of Sports Night in this show than I do The West Wing. Definitely lots of Natalie & Jeremy type scenes. I see Sam Waterston as Isaac too.

:up: I couldn't agree more!!! I thought this was the best episode so far but I also cringe when any of the romantic plots are on screen. This one where Maggie was telling the young producer how she set up all the stuff (gifts, card and reservations) for him to use with her roommate that he was dating was TERRIBLE!!! But take away all of that junk and the rest of the episode was quite good!

I thought that was GREAT!!! Its nice when you have a "godfather" watching out for you. Unfortunately Charlie's godfather status can (and may) be overrulled by Jane Fonda's SUPER GODMOTHER (and BOSS) title!!!

There was about 1 month between the Giffords shooting and this episode. It felt like about that based on some of the comments from the characters.

It appears so. Unfortunately, that's most par for the course with Aaron Sorkin. I wish he'd vary it up a bit more.

    Giffords shooting: 8 Jan 2011
    Mubarak resigning: 11 Feb 2011
    Valentine's Day: 14 Feb 2011

Since they are using real events it's pretty straightforward to place them in time.

I thought Matthew Perry did good on Sorkin shows. I'd like to see him pop up on here.

Everyone except for Jane Fonda. I thought the guy punching the computer monitor was a little over the top, even though I don't like the guy who was on the computer monitor either.

Yeah, I expected more clever dialogue, better timing, and more physical restraint.

I dont think Sorkin does action very well.

Sorkin says Sorkin can't write action scenes. He said the first and only action scene in "A Few Good Men" was Tom Cruise buying a magazine at a newstand.

I wanted to like this show. Sorkin wrote some great stuff for the West Wing. Maybe it's the difference in actors, but he's trying to do the same things that worked in WW and it just falls flat here.

Some of the personal interaction among the crew is just silly.

I am just catching up. A friend sent me dvd copies of this season since I don't get HBO and told her how much I have been enjoying West Wing.

This has to be my favorite episode so far. Of course I haven't seen any past this but that's what I have planned for the weekend.

I have really enjoyed the interplay between characters and found it more real than what was in West Wing, which I had also enjoyed.

"James Tiberius Harper" made me laugh. The guy putting his hand thru the monitor made me cringe and I did feel for him -both in losing someone he was responsible for and for being angry at an idiot on the tv. I absolutely adored the ending and it was very dusty as I watched it, even knowing what was coming. It still got me.

Oh yeah, the whole valentine's day thing was just background fluff but so what, it happens in lots of shows.
