I just saw a brand new Premiere 4 on clearance for ~$60 at my local Best Buy. Would you buy it and why?

Nope, love my Roamio. But I could see someone buying it for the lower price point.

So nobody thinks the Premiere 4 has any value whatsoever?

I just sold a 2 tuner premiere, with lifetime, and upgraded 2 TB drive, for only $350. And I was happy to get it. Given that lifetime and the drive are near $500, I think the answer is no they don't have any value without these things. Then again, I got the premiere as a refurb for only $50 and that was back in spring 2012, so it seems it's been that way for a while. But just because they have no value doesn't mean they can't be useful, so if it suits your needs, go for it.

Funny... The Clearance here on the Premiere 4 is $60 and the original Premiere is still $100.

Not bad as a spare part backup, but I'm not going to miss the Premiere line. I suspect a lot of now-Roamio owners won't miss it.

But honestly it's a good price for the thrifty shopper. It'll get the job done and its still better than most MSO boxes.

Mine has the 4 for ~$60 and the XL4 for ~$100. The Roamio is better but those are really good prices, thinking about getting one for my Sister.

Wow, $100 for the XL4 is a steal. If I didn't have one already I'd jump on that.

I just wish service wasn't so expensive. If there was some way to transfer my Sister's $6.95/mo plan over to the XL4 I'd do it in a heart beat.

    Dan,

TiVo told me that they would transfer my $6.95 plan to ANY TiVo, other than the Roamio. Then again, on a different call, they said that the $6.95 plan stays will the box.

I guess that you have to catch them at the right time.

I transferred a Tivo HD to a 4 tuner Premier about 6 months ago and kept the $6.95 a month. It was one of the offers that popped up on the Tivo.

I wish they would transfer either my lifetime (free S2 box with free lifetime as a contest win back in 2002) or my $6.95 (S2 with old grandfathered $6.95/month plan). I would buy a new box (either Premiere or Roamio) in a second if they'd transfer either service. I just can't justify hundreds for lifetime right now. So, I'll just stay with my non-HD TiVos even though I have an HDTV.

They had lifetime transfers to both the S3 & the TivoHD.. that's how I ended up with them...

Because mine was a free lifetime and my $6.95 is grandfathered, I have never actually paid for full service on any TiVo. I think my account is flagged or something because I've spoke to many CSRs who say there is nothing that can be moved to another unit.
