New Internet speed record blows past Google Fiber

    According to this article, Bell Labs has found a way to deliver internet speeds MUCH faster than Google fiber AND do it over existing copper lines. No need to have Fiber to the home (FTTH) either. Still needs to be tested in the "real world", but hopefully this is something promising. Maybe this is also why DirectTV is trying to buy AT&T.


    I am thinking it could also pave the way for a true "Cloud" DVR system. TiVo or someone else.

    There are serious distance restrictions with the current technology. Sounds great, but still totally impractical.

    10gbps up to 100ft, a nice achievement but not realistic at all.

    Fiber is the future, anything else is stop-gap.
