The Coen Brothers movie took place in Minnesota. The Corn Brothers TV show takes place in Iowa.
Count me in, too.
The promos make it look like a guaranteed winner!
Billy Bob Thornton!
looks good...when does it premiere?
April 15. the week after Justified ends the season.
I get him mixed up with McGee on NCIS.
Holy cow, Freeman looks OLD.
Yeah, I'll probably watch it. Having lived in Fargo for several years (NDSU graduate (home of the thundering herd...)) and a childhood in Minnesota, it is always interesting to see how my homeland is depicted.
Of course they are filming it in Canada....
The accent always amuses me. It's always so over the top. I just don't think it is that pronounced. I guess for movies/tv...
I had a friend who was TERRIBLY offended by the Fargo accent. Which she was utterly incapable of realizing she pretty much had herself. Listening to her rant about the Fargo accent in her Fargo accent was a level of irony you would normally expect only in a Coen Brothers movie.
I thought the movie accent was hilarious, but then I've always been more Newscaster Standard.
Or just some vaguely European/African accent?
I guess what you call it depends upon where you're from.
Huh, Transatlantic makes no sense in that context.
Verbing weirds language. And language weirds life.
I agree with your languaging.
Those of us from the South are mostly oblivious to our hickish speech patterns. It took me moving away for over 20 years and then returning before I truly realized why people mock us.
At first I thought my Fargo-speaking friend was putting us on with her outrage. She was even more offended by my laughter, and more offended still when she found out why I was laughing.
(She was a Swedish-American from rural Minnesota who grew up in the 60s, and the Fargo was strong in this one.)
It finally showed up in my guide data. Series set to record!
Mine too. Series is set up via DirecTV App on my phone. Thanks for the heads up.
Oh, boy is THIS gonna be great!
