The telegraphed Don getting caught by Sally from a million miles away. Who didn't see that coming?

If this show were set in the neighborhoods I grew up in during the late 60s, Sally would have some serious 'splainin to do as to why she broke into a neighbor's apartment. That would take precedent over daddy getting busy with someone not named Megan. But I guess in her neighborhood, she'll be getting a car soon to keep her quiet.

They shoe horned Bob Benson in the show just to have him hit on Pete? I don't even know what the guy does at the company.

Who didn't think Manolo was gay?

    How old is Sally, anyway?

Exactly, and then Pete said he was a "degenerate." As Pete said that, the camera was on Bob's face, and you could see, in that split second, that Bob is also a "degenerate." Had the scene ended there, I still think it would have been fairly clear that Bob is gay. The rest of the scene just confirmed it.

Yeah, that made it especially brutal. Sally isn't oblivious, and knows Don isn't a perfect dad or even much of a role model, but she does have a bond with him that is much stronger than hers with Betty. So this is awful for her, and for Don too -- not just for being caught, and not just because it was one of his kids that caught him, but because it was Sally. He's started to come around on Bobby, and who knows what he thinks of Gene -- but Sally he loves. And he may have just wrecked it. Again, brutal.

Just because you're gay doesn't mean you can't be a gigolo.

The look on Peggy's face when Pete's mom mentioned "the child you have between you" was agonizing. Elizabeth Moss nailed it perfectly. I could feel it in my gut. Also the relief in her face when she realized she was mistaken for his wife.

    Hello

Are we supposed to think that Sally believed his nonsense explanation for even one microsecond?

Me neither. I just thought she would get caught by the son or parent, resulting in a difficult to explain situation.

    They set it up slowly.

First Sally needs to get into the apartment so the doorman give her a big ring with all of the keys.
We see her friend go out the back door to take out the trash.
Friend says she slipped the letter under the back door. ( the door Don where Don would hang out, and near the maid's room where they fooled around.
Sylvia is extremely grateful to Don for helping with the son/Viet Nam situation.
Sally wants to get the letter back so she asks for "her" key, knowing she'd get the big ring with all of the keys.

Given all the previous bits, as soon as she got the big key ring the second time it really was only going to go one way.

i don't agree with that at all.
there were a bunch of different things that could have happened the moment Sally went into the apartment.

OK, once Sally got the keys the second time the only thing I thought of was her finding daddy in the Rosen's apartment and that's what happened.

I will agree that Don and Sylvia could have been in any number of positions, or the maid's room door could have been closed initially. I hadn't pondered all of those.

I didn't see it coming at all. I thought Sally would get caught and get in trouble, or maybe get into trouble with Mitchell. I didn't think Don would get caught.

I was thinking that something would happen between her and Mitchell - an attempted rape or something. It was leading somewhere, but I wasn't sure where.

I thought either what happened would happen, or that she'd see that Mitchell offed himself, or maybe he was smoking dope with friends and she gets involved in being a hippie.
