Drew has to bite it by the end of the season. There is no way out.

    Elly Mae, too.

    Colt for sure.

    Johnny Crowder probably.

While I agree with your forecast there's an alternative. Drew & EM could escape into hiding and a long story arc into next season could be the US Marshals, whose job is hunting fugitives keep looking for them.

Colt is absolutely toast. Question is by whom, Boyd, Johnny, Tim the sniper...?

I say let Tim have him. But Boyd has a tendency of cleaning up his own internal mess.

I hope not, that pairing doesn't do much for the show.

Was that a new car for Bob, loved how he slapped lights on that old junker and that after he and the two Clover Hill guys go Rambo on each other no one gets in trouble. :)

    And nobody gets hit.

This show, unlike most, realizes that most people aren't Raylan Givens.

We've seen the car before. He mentioned how he paid for all his gear himself.

In his weekly episode interview with ew.com, showrunner Graham Yost talks about how they decided that Shelby should be Drew, why they revealed him now, and what the rest of the season holds. He touches on a number of things being discussed here, so the link may be of interest.

There are mild spoilers in here, though, so do not read if you want to know absolutely nothing.

That is actually wild that they didn't know only a few episodes in advance how it was going to go.

Oh, well. Nobody's perfect. And at least now I don't have to admit somebody's more clever than I am! :D

Another cheat was that Shelby was the foreman at the mine. Suddenly now he was the Head of Security.

It has bugged me how Shelby could just put on the sheriff uniform and be all up to speed on the law and what he could and couldn't do.

Yes. It is usually much better when there is one writer who writes out an outline for the entire show (all seasons), and also someone (or the same one) who writes an outline for each season. Then the writers of the individual episodes can fill in the details, sticking to the guidelines already written.

Although there's a HUGE difference between a show like BG (which is about a specific story arc) and Justified (which is, really, a sit-dram). For the most part, a show like Justified can get away with flying by the seat of its pants because it doesn't have a specific destination. The only time that can come back to bite them is at moments like this, when a subplot HAS a specific destination, and they find that the solution they come up with doesn't really match the route they took to get there.

But at least in Justified, the mystery of who Drew is isn't central to the show, so if they botch that storyline (as it appears they did) they don't botch the whole show.
