Is TiVo's Website an indication of the future of TiVo?

    Yes it can. And it has run slower in the past.

    I own an AV company and we install Tivo in customers homes all the time. We like the functionality of the boxes, especially over the cable company equivalent.

    However, I could not agree more that the website is an embarrassment. I am on the site often enough to know that I am going to have an issue activating boxes way more than 50% of the time. I purposely activate the boxes when my customers are not around. If they saw the issues I had simply activating the boxes they would never have faith in the product itself.

    Additionally, when we finish an install we never tell our customers to use the Tivo.com site for anything. We don't even mention that the site exists.

    I have been at it for 45 minutes today and have successfully activated 2 out of 6 boxes.
    I actually found this forum today because I did a search for "Tivo.com website is slow" while I was waiting for my activation's to fail.

    While the site can be slow, I don't recall having issues activating my TiVos. It's quick online considering how slow the website is. My last activation was an $85 lifetime Mini.

    Its not me. Its not my gear. I do websites for a living, have been doing them for 17+ years
    I am a TIVO fan, but the website is deadly, horribly slow on my MacPro at home (FIOS 50 meg pipe) and on a dedicated network feed/PC at work ... so I go out of my way to NOT go there ...

    site has always been slow for me ever since I became a customer, but have never had an issue activating boxes

    If it is then it has been for a long time. I always remember they website being slow. Never understood why though.

    I access TiVo.com often from Google TV, changing Season Passes and setting recordings, never an issue. The last time I used a PC it was quick without any issues and it seems odd that so many are having problems. Waiting a few seconds for pages to load is not an annoyance to me so that may be happening and I don't think anything about it. Other things like accessing the user forum from the site or ordering anything hasn't been done in years so I can't comment on how well that works but for managing my TiVos, I am happy with how everything works.

    Speeds doing other things TiVo related, having nothing to do with TiVo.com are slow, transferring between TiVos or from TiVo to PC for example so it really seems odd that using TiVo.com access gets so many complaints. I don't even care about the transfer speeds personally, I know to start the transfer before I will watch it.

    I can't find anything about TiVo worth complaining about.
