I just had a horrifying thought in this day of remake shows

    Potato and pen.
What if they remade the series "Hazel", with Rosie O'Donnel or Roseanne as the title character? (While we're at it, can you think of anyone else who could approach the sometimes shrill nature of Shirley Booth?)

No doubt they would cast Gilbert Gottfried as a 'twist'

Didn't they sort of do this with "The Nanny".

They'd probably make it a movie and cast some guy in drag.

Maybe that hideously obnoxious, SCREAMY, Sheryl lady who is on 'The Talk' this year. O-MG, she is the most aggravating person I've ever had the misfortune of hearing.

Remaking "Hazel" would not be nearly as bad as remaking "My Mother the Car."

I was going to add "Mr. Ed," as well, but I just realized I really would like to hear Ed say, just one more time, "Hello, Willlllburrrrr..."

How about "The Odd Couple"? It was acceptable then for a couple of divorced guys to share an apartment and not scare away single women.

Imagine how twisted that scenario would play out nowadays. It would be a completely different show ... in a BAD way.

I live this everyday. The modern day Odd Couple is my roommate and I one who is gay and one who is straight. The gay one is oddly Oscar and the straight one is Felix. We make jokes about it all the time and how this show would be great especially because we also have 4 cats.

Hey, I really liked "My Mother the Car." of course I was an idiot then. I tried watching it recently....it really was bad. Though the first episode was sort of OK.

I wonder what they would do with Gilligan's Island (and I don't mean as a reality show). (shutter)

Shirley Booth's charm and personality cannot be matched by those two, that's for sure.

They've already remade "The Odd Couple".. several times.. with women, and with African Americans. Of course the original TV show was an adaptation too.

I remember watching Hazel in reruns as a kid.

I'd hate to think how Dennis the Menace would be portrayed today.

It wouldn't work today. After the first couple of episodes his parents would get him a prescription for ritalin, and then the show is over.
