Shoot, for the vast majority of Olympics I've watched zero hours.

The only part I can clearly remember watching at all were some of Nadia Comaneci's gymnastics. Never watched Mark Spitz or Bruce Jenner, or that US/Russia hockey game (or the movie about it), or the "dream team", or...I can't even come up with any other highlights.

    It just never interested me.

Although I do think that the "dream team" was a total ripoff and those pros should never have been allowed to compete.

If you subscribe to premium channels there's Newsroom and True Blood on HBO, Weeds and Episodes on Showtime.
F/X has Anger Management and Louie. There's new episodes of Futurama on Comedy Central.

Do you have netflix streaming? That opens up lots of possibilities.

I usually watch the trampoline when that's on, but I'm not even motivated to do that this year. I hope to watch zero.

I do not have Netflix. :( I wish I did. My Tivo is full of crap from the spring that I probably should just delete because I have no desire to watch it.

I think I am going to check into Sharkster's recommendation. I've enjoyed the TBS comedies thus far. Thanks for that one.

I could Redbox something...but eh. Nearest redbox is 20 minutes away.

I'll be watching some of the games, but even if I had no interest, I don't see how the games would affect my TV viewing and have me seeking alternatives.
i.e., it's not like I watch NBC anyways for much anyways. Given that it's the middle of Summer, I watch it pretty much never.

LOL. I don't mind reading the sports section. I think the last Olympics i watched was a winter Olympics and I watched the snowboarding. I loved the fact they were judging amplitude. I had never heard that word in connection with a sport.

    I have NBC News SPs.

Did all other news in the world stop (week ago, even?)

The network news isn't enough, so the local NBC news alos has people in London.

We get it NBC, you pay way too much for the rights to the Olympics.

"When we come back, in other news, the city of nnn was leveled in an unprovoked attack by unknown forces. Now back to our London coverage."

Yeah. I have been watching CNN and ABC. Though since the Olympics is in London and somewhat live, it has been ending at 2 or 4 pm PDT and I have been watching the talking head shows I enjoy. BTW, I think there is an election coming up in the USA. I suspect it is important. :)

My DVR is full of stuff to watch. I still haven't watched the most recent season of Dexter. I've also got like 5 James Bond movies on my DVR. Encore has had like 19 Bond films on this month.

might be on somewhere too.. (good miniseries)

    Hey, Bob Costas is great!

It's only been around a few Olympics-es at most. They added some cool new winter sports too, like snowboard racing (I don't think that's what they call it, but it's basically what it is).

Funny thing about this thread is -- I *generally* am a sports hater. The Olympics is one of the VERY few exceptions (Little League World Series finals is one other, I record the Super Bowl *for the commercials* and avoid the boring game).. Though so far, I'm mostly watching the actual performing, and even FFing through the wait for the scores, etc.. When they're in more finals rather than preliminaries, that may change.

I understand being indifferent to the Olympics (that is, not caring at all about the events, the results, whatever)... but I don't get why anyone would "hate" the Olympics. Seems very curious to me.

Unless you live in the town hosting. :)

A finalist for US was my area. I live snack dab in the middle of Washington/Baltimore. The USOC picked a very flawed New York over us to pay homage to 9/11. London probably would have still won but W/B had a very good proposal and cache of DC.

Good point, hadn't thought of that specific instance, and that is perfectly understandable. Other than that, though, it seems odd to me to hate the Olympics.

I don't hate the Olympics themselves, I hate how it becomes the sole focus for so much. TV and news is completely disrupted. I can't wait for it to be over and for the sanity (such as it is) to return.

One of the saddest days of my life was when they swapped the schedules and now Winter and Summer were offset and we had to have Olympics every 2 years instead of once every four.

Does not compute. We now have one Olympics every two years instead of having the Olympics twice (one Winter, one Summer) every four years.

Every two years we get the Olympics.

    It's much better this way.
