Hdmi 1.3

    I assume 1.3 cable is fine no need for 1.4 is this correct?

    Atlantic...
    One of the computer mags did a test of HDMI cables and found no difference between the cheap $5 ones and the $50 Monster cables.

    Yes, a 1.3 HDMI cable is fine, unless you will be using it with a 3D TV and a 3D device like blu-ray later on. For 3D TV, you need a 1.4a HDMI cable.

    Thanks, when I looked it up did seem 3D was the only thing a 1.4 was needed for in TV application but none said it outright.

    1.4a isn't necessarily needed for 3D (I.e there is a firmware upgrade for Playstation 3 for 3D and its a 1.3 (high speed hdmi) device.

    1.4 does have some 3D specific features but is not required.
