For those in the Evansville, IN viewing area who don't watch Grimm while or shortly after recording...

14 WFIE placed a banner on the 10/05 episode several times stating that *next* Friday's episode (10/12) would be pre-empted in favor of the broadcast of the Reitz @ Mater Dei high school football game.

It goes on to say that the new episode "The Bottle Imp" will be broadcast later that night at 1:05 AM. Okay, so that's technically Saturday morning, but you get the gist.

I checked my SP and schedule last night...it doesn't list the game, but the same Grimm ep at 8:00 PM and 1:05 AM. Given that this is a local one-off schedule change, I doubt that it will make it into the TiVo schedule properly before air time.

So I changed my recording to the 1:05 AM showing. Given how bad the local stations seem to be with these late-night re-broadcasts starting/ending on time, I think I'll play it safe and recorde the programs before and after as well...no way I'm staying up until one in the morning to make sure it records on time!

They pre-empted network TV for a HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME!!!????

OMG! If I was new in town (and from a place that could care less) I would be POed.

I'm originally from Cincinnati, and, well, high school football seemed like a big deal for high school-age kids and their parents...especially if the kids went to a school that had a great team. Otherwise, it seemed like the kids would grow up and everyone would lose interest. Or maybe I just didn't hang with the "right" crowd.

But here in E-ville, its a *big* deal. You would think we're a mini-Texas with how big high school football is. But, come to think of it, I think its just the E-ville mentality, as usually the first question someone asks you when you meet them is, "Where did you go to high school?"

But in the grand scheme of things here, this game is pretty important

Shouldn't people be going to the game to support the team, booster club (food sales), etc. since it's local? :)

Heck, I'm POed when they preempt Jeopardy! for anything but WW III. I was complaining to my local station often when they preempted it. They nowadays SEEM to then just shift one day and show the new one on Sat if they preempt ONLY one ep a week.. if they preempt 2, I'm still screwedÂ… but even for things like the debate, they are scheduled to air it at IIRC 9.. I added a half hour pad, but they seem to usually air it around the scheduled time.. But once recently, it started EARLY for some reason.

Basically, even if they "have" to preempt, at least they're making more of an effort than they used to about airing it some other time. I would prefer Jeopardy be on Hulu or something. I'd even put up with unskippable commercials for the rare episode that's preempted. (I would hope for at least 1 week of episodes, so I didn't have to check EVERY day if it recorded.)

I had not checked my To Do List for a few days now, so I was pleasantly when I arrived home this evening to see that the schedule for WFIE does in fact show that the HS football game is on at 7:00 Central, and the Grimm ep is still in the guide for 1:05 AM.

Of course, I've already padded the heck out of Grimm, *and* set recordings for before and after...I just don't trust the accuracy of the late-night programs' start and end times.
