Anybody watched an HBO show on the night it premieres via HBOGO? Does it become available right at the same time? Within the hour? Within two hours?

I'm not 100% certain, but my recollection is that they become available as soon as the premiere showing has finished airing.

But I think it's after the WEST COAST showing. So if it's shown 9Pm EDT, then it wouldn't be until 1AM the next morning that it would be available.

Game of Thrones premiere is going up against Walking Dead finale isn't it? Interesting.

I love both shows but I don't think any show on HBO can get the number of viewers as The Walking Dead gets.

But if you count streaming, DVD Sales, etc they are more likely closer than the ratings would make them.

Here is last week's ratings. Total Viewers and then 18-49

    Walking Dead AMC 9:00 PM 10.99 5.4
    BIBLE, THE HIST 8:00 PM 10.27 2.7

Last year I think Game of Thrones was about 4.0 viewers and 2.0 18-49. Clearly not even half of TWD ratings.

I would guess that the GOT premiere airing won't be huge, but the three viewings for the night will be over last year's premiere.

I saw a rather clever Haiku about both shows. I'm not sure I remember it exactly but it went something like this.

    Winter is Coming
    Bringing with it White Walkers
    Where is Rick Grimes?

My wife and I watch on HBOGO with my desktop plugged into my TV to see it in HD (not willing to pay $10 for an HD receiver). The last two seasons the show has been available 9:01 PM ET.

There is no reason for them to wait to show it on HBOGO. Its not like a broadcast show on NBC that has to wait to be seen on Hulu so first view can be on the network. People already have to have HBO through their cable provider anyway, so why make them wait if they want to watch it through HBOGO?

I was just looking at the schedule on my DISH receiver and noticed it wasn't going to record until Monday. WTF?

Ah, the premiere is listed as a 2 hour episode, with the title being the season finale from last year. Instead of being listed as 2 separate episodes.

So if you have Dish, at least, you should check your guide data.

Just rewatched Season 2. So I'm ready. But they reference Season 1 so much I going to start watching it next.

HBO On Demand has both seasons. Plus some extras as well.

I also finished season 2 last night and I'm ready for tonight. I was hoping the Winterfell portion of the story (how things ended there) would be clearer, but I still don't get who did what, why, and how. The entire sequence of events makes zero sense.

Does the "no spoilers" warning apply to season 2 or only season 3? There some specific questions I'd like to rehash but it seems silly to resurrect the old threads for them.

I think since we're here to discuss our excitement about S3, we can assume all of us have seen S2. Ask away.

To set the stage, have you read the books?

I was just reading a great roundtable discussion of S3, with several TV critics and GoT experts sounding off. No spoilers, just their thoughts on what they liked (and didn't like) about S2, and where they hope S3 takes us.

IAC, someone threw in this comment...

so you aren't the only one left confused.

No. I have not read the books.

Well, most of my questions centered on WTF happened at Winterfell. But I also wanted to make the observation that things are a LOT bleaker for the Starks than I remembered.

Kat is giving Jaime away for nothing. The 2 boys are wandering the North all alone (basically). Arya will get to a burned Winterfell, if at all. Sansa is now a prisoner without protection, and Robb will now be outnumbered 5-1 with the new alliance made between the Lannisters and the Tyrells.

And Robb just went and pissed of Frey (the Bridge guy) and has the Greyjoys to contend with. The Starks are majorly fraked to start season 3!

I also finished up a re-watch Season 2 last night (have not read the books) and agree that the Winterfell story was a bit confusing.

What happened to Theon Greyjoy? He gives his speech, his guy whacks him over the head, then what? Do the hornblowing group outside attack and burn Winterfell? Or did Theon's guys burn Winterfell? And what happened to Theon? Who has him? Did his men turn him over in order to secure their safe passage?

Or are we not supposed to know this yet?
