We watched House for years, but gave up on it quite awhile ago. Trying to decide whether or not to invest the time to catch the series ending episode.

    Opinions?

If you gave up on House, you missed the whole point of the show. It's not about the weekly sick people, it's about broken people!

We didn't give up on it. The interaction between Greg House and the other doctors, and expecially Wilson, is priceless and that's what the last eight years is about. Looking forward to tonight's show - and the retrospective before it with a little sadness that it's ending.

We taped last week and will do so tonight as well.
Haven't watched much this season but am definitely in for the last hurrah.

I stopped watching a few months ago but jumped back in the week after hearing Wilson dropped the c-bomb. I wanted to see how that final arc plays out. I'm in for tonight.

Actually, I don't think we missed the point of the show. House became a very formula type show after a while. I guess that is why they blew it up and got rid of the original three doctors who assisted him. Before that, it really was "sick-person-of-the-week," which is why we stopped watching.

It may have gotten better after the reset, but for some reason we never came back to it.

Never really a Desperate Housewives fan, but I know that series ended once and for all recently. Did anyone who used to follow it jump back in for the series ending episode? Did you think it was worth it or had too much changed since you stopped tuning in?

This, if you gave up why come back now when it is too late?

I gave up on House because it sucked....I couldn't stand the "broken people" whining and his arrogance.

I watched the first 5 episodes of this season and have watched the last 5. Whatever happened in the middle I don't feel like I have missed anything.

It's not "too late" to see how they wrap it up.

You seem to think that missing a year or so of tedious repetitiveness means I "gave up" on the right to watch and enjoy the last few eps
Am I not a dedicated enough fan to suit you?

That. :D I bailed after last season but will watch the finale, much like I did for Monk. I'll pay my respects for the years that it DID entertain me.

Doubtful. It was never one of my top tier shows, and I haven't seen it in years. I haven't ruled out watching the finale, but odds are good that I won't.

For those that haven't watched, here's a quick summary of what has been going on the last few episodes:
Wilson has terminal cancer with only 5 months to live. Wilson doesn't want any treatment and just wants to die, but House has been fighting him because he doesn't want to lose his friend. Last episode, House violated his probation and has to go back to prison to serve the rest of his sentence of 6 months. This is after Wilson and House came to an agreement and wanted to spend what time Wilson had left together.

I always watched House for the characters and Dr House's notions of truth. The medical stuff was, for me, just a means to an end.

But I can understand why people drawn to the medical drama lost interest.

Yeah, it definitely failed to live up to the hype. Heck, I think the pre-show was better! Especially the ending. Too bad they didn't show what else got splattered.

Definitely a lame cop-out of an ending. Hell, even House's PPTH pass looked rather lame.

Edit: Somewhere I read today (May 21) is actually Lisa Edelstein's birthday (apparently she's 46).

I actually enjoyed the finale, and I normally hate them and feel that they ruined a show I was enjoying (the best example of this would be the Seinfeld finale).

Some of it was weak, especially
the fact that he needed to go to the abandoned fire-trap in order to try heroin
, but the overall conclusion, that House would
chuck everything and go out for a last hurrah with Wilson, letting his friend live out the remainder of his life doing everything he'd wanted to do
felt right and in many ways was a redemption for House.

Overall, I enjoyed it and I think it was a fitting resolution.
